Way back in "the old days" I used to get my dad to drive me to a local town so that I could play the large arcade games like space invaders and outrun. Then the consoles cam along and when I managed to get them to buy me a SNES for a birthday I didn't really go play the arcade machines much. Arcade games started the whole industry, space invaders, pac-man and all the other classics where so much fun back then.

But sadly arcade games could be no more. Alot of the developers are stopping making arcade machines to concentrate more on developing for consoles. So is this the way forward? Now don't get me wrong the PS2 and others are powerful but some arcade machines offer a little more ( take silent scope) the arcade machine with the large rifle is great). Some contain extras like this that would be to expensive to have for normal consoles.

But this could also be a good thing. now developers could concentrate more on the console games so the standard of games could improve. Maybe some developers will still make arcade game machines but I think that soon they will die out and the consoles of the future will take over.

So soon the days of putting money in the large machine and playing an arcade game could be over andinstead we will all sit at home in front of the t.v playing our consoles.

The Arcades are not dead they are just evolving. The time has sadly past when they held cutting edge technology that ppl went to arcades just to watch ppl play the fantastic streetfighter 2.

It is these sort of games however that make the arcades what they are. Walking into an arcade stuff the new machines although im only 15 I'm gagging to play on the old track and field machine for 10p or getting the high score on mortal kombat. My favourite game in the arcades is still Piont blank as nothing beats the reload action in the gun and this is why the arcade is not dead

The arcades are still alive bringing classic games to the masses.

Arcade racers were great with all the seats and everything but that's the only thing they have over consoles.
