Would stick it in the PC section but I can't be bothered.

Interested in Far Cry but am aware of the system hog that it is.
Can a tech-type person gissan estimate of what it'd play like on my system of:
2.40ghz, 512mb Ram & Geoforce Ti4200

Is it even worth buying as I'm loathe to run it on minium detail levels etc? And if it ain't, could anybody advise on a graphics card that I should look to?
I'm not that much of a gamer to justify shelling out £300+ for a bloody card to play games on so I'm wary of getting into that.

If you are remotely interested, I am selling a 9800 XT for £175, it's boxed although the box isn't in amazing condition. The card however is top notch and in excellent condition. Still retails for £275 - £315 and I have only had it since January. Selling to get an X800 XT Platinum.

Radeon 9800 Pro?
I've heard a lot of good about those, thanks muchly sir - I shall investigate.
From browsing around the web, apparently it makes little difference if the card is a 128 or 256meg one?

Hmmmmm...£100-£150 is a lot more acceptable than £300 for a card.

You're system should run it ok, but obviously to see it in all it's glory you need the settings whacked up on a high end card, as Far Cry is a DX9 game and I think Ti 4200's are DX 7/8 you won't see some of the features, you can pick up Radeon 9800 Pro's for little over £100 these days, bargains if you ask me, they easily run Far Cry.

Twas it the demo where you started in a boat? I've no idea over demo issues.

However, there is Far Cry: Instincts coming to all consoles, and it actually, from the Xbox shots I've seen, looks almost as great as the PC version.

Cheers boys, I played the demo and it ran like treacle on anything but the low settings. But apparently there were issues with that demo?

I'll see if a mate's got it and borrow. I'm just not into my pc enough to justify shelling out the prices I've seen for monstrous video cards

Well, specs are 1GHz, 256RAM, and at least a Geforce2 card/ATI 8500 according to the box.

I've got 1.4GHz, 256RAM and, now this is the best bit, a Geforce MMX400. Which is just bo**ocks.
It runs on lowest setting fine, and can just about handle medium.

So anything reasonably superior should be fine really.

Well, I have a 2.8ghz, 512 ram ATI Radeon 9200, and the demo works fine, if with details down and a bit of jerkiness here and there - but definitly playable, just not in all its glory.

I have no clue if your card is better or worse, but I'm guessing, with the processor lower than mine (and I guess no upgrades on your PC), it's probably an older card. Maybe. Not sure, but download/get the demo and see.
