There are loads of Japanese versions of the pack roaming around the countryside, desperately looking for owners like sad faced dogs in Batersea. The extremely good news is that they are even better than their UK counterparts, as they have more inside the pack.
So far, I know that there is a commemorative coin, a nice book of the history of Sonic (in English - horrah!) The Game (really?!) in Japanese of course, and a lovely soundtrack.
The bad news? Well, it's a bit pricey, but they are sure to go up in price in a years time, so think of it as a collectors item. Needless to say, if you can't find any of these packs in a store near you, you know where to come!
Oh, and buy the UK version of Sonic 2 from Special Reserve as well, because you'll never understand the Japanese storyline unless you take a degree in Japanese...
