Games today often have an option to save the game whenever you want. The latest example of this would be Red Faction. At first I loved the idea of being able to save your progress in a game wherever you want but there will be BIG consequences if you get it wrong.
Say you have done quite a lot of the game for today, and you think you should save it incase something or other happens. Nothing wrong with that idea there, infact it sounds quite clever. So you decide to save the game. Then you turn it of for the night. The next day you wake up early and you want to pick up where you last left off when suddenly you find that you have a boss to battle against. No problem you think, luckily I saved the game just before it. As you prepare for battle something terrible happens. You notice you only have 6 bullets left of your machine gun, and all the other guns are empty. What are you going to do? After the 124 unsuccessful attempt on trying to kill the boss you become aware that it is infact impossible, and therefor you have to start again all the way from the beginning of the game.
It is not a nice thing to happen, believe me and I was wondering if any of you experienced this before. Also, what could be done to prevent things like these from happening?

One being Zelda: Majora's Mask, yes?
I'd reached the final level of Fantasy Zone 2, and was fully kitted out to take on all of the bosses. Unfortunately I died, so went to load state and have another go, but accidently hit save state. So when I started again I had basic weapons and no engine. Worse still I didn't have enough money to buy these things again, so I had to start again from the start.
Thing is I was only playing to see the ending, as I remembered it to be absolutley awesome.
When I did see it again it was still great. Basically you find out who was behind the war, who the leader was, it had a really great little story!
