Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help. I am having a problem with my PS2 at the moment.
When I turn the PS2 on, it doesn't seem to boot (to the main Sony screen with 'Browser' on it). It will boot about 1 in 30 trys of resetting it and if it does then boot, if I insert a CD or game, it won't load it!
I'm not sure what to do. I managed to load a CD lens cleaner thing a couple of days ago but that didnt seem to help, in fact, its probably got worse since then.
Any help anyone can give would be gratefull recieved! Thanks!

Just do that then. Boot it then put the memory card in. Try blowing or hoovering as Aliboy says the memory card slots.

Ok, this is frustrating. I played the PS2 fine last night, turned it on this morning and it can't read my memory card. Now if I boot the PS2 with the memory card in it freezes or doesn't boot yet if I take the memory card out then it boots fine!
Confused and frustrated!!
Can anyone help??

Sometimes it gets a bit dusty inside and the laser and other parts tend to not work too great.

Just hoover it out every month or so and make sure it isn't in a tight space where little air can get into it to keep it cool and stop the PS2 from overheating.

Hey,hoovered out the vents and it works now! Brilliant! Thanks AliBoy! Glad I asked on here now rather than taking it down a repair shop!
Thanks again!

Hi there, thanks for the replies. I think I've had it about 2yrs. I tried it vertical (usually have it horizontal) and it didn't seem to work. BUT today I tried it and without a disc in it booted up and then it read the disc as well! That was on the 3rd try of booting. I'll try the hoover thanks and no it isn't chipped!

How long have you had it?
Is it chipped?
Does it work better in a different position (ie horizontal or vertical)?

Seems odd that it won't boot, not a common problem with ps2's.

Get a hoover and use it on the vents at the side.
