if you even query not owning a gc, then its not for you as it is really for nintendo followers who have loved mario games etc. ps2 is only worth buying also if you want the specific titles such as ff's or dmc.

halo is best for multiplayer with live, has amazing graphics, and has many games i like.

For volume of games, PS2 is best as long as you don't mind that most of them are of average or less quality.

For raw power and the best games the PS2 has as well as its own, Xbox.

For some cult games that have great playability but are few and far between, Gamecube.
