Rainbow Six 3 DS:

Okay, just had a moment of thought whilst sitting down to a game of Rainbow Six 3 this afternoon, and although it has no chance of happening, I have an idea. Imagine Rainbow Six 3 for the DS. Not just single player, but with Wi-fi, multiplayer, so you can almost have little terrorist hunts amongst mates, or full blown team survival. I have mocked up a little image using my powers just what I think it would look like (even though the graphics are far too good) along with the bottom screen.

Now the touchscreen can be used to quickly tap and change weapons (ignore the four machine guns, picture different weapons in each spot), whilst also giving you an overlook of your map and condition of team. The top screen, obviously, is used for playing. Then, when in between battles, if playing by Wi-fi, you could use the top screen to look at who is ready, and who is speaking (yep, all the voice recognition features remember) and the bottom to choose weapons for the next round.

Here are a handful of images I mocked up (excuse the quality):

http://www.planetnintendo.co.uk/rainbow_ds2.JPG - Different surroundings
http://www.planetnintendo.co.uk/rainbow_ds3.JPG - Oooh, night vision.

Its not the most original idea in the world, I know, but its a good example of how to take an exsiting title and make it work for the DS seamlessly, I think. I may add future pictures, oh, and make this the place to stick any DS ideas you have, I'm sure you have more original thoughts than me.

Go go go!

Super Monkey Ball DS:

Credit goes to FFF here, a Monkey Ball DS title truly would be fun. The top screen working as the screen you'd see in the Cube version, your monkey sitting tight in his ball. The bottom touchs screen would have a top-down view of the map. Pressing on certain places of the map would cause the arena to tilt, which is something not thought of quite as much in the Cube titles, after all, the tilting is the aspect of the game.

A stylus controlled Monkey Ball is a very feasible idea, I feel, and could be very interesting. Here is a picture I mocked up of it:

On top of this you could have a Wi-fi version of Monkey Fight, where dragging the stylus around the arena causes your monkey to move, and tapping causes it to attack. Or something...

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 DS:

Again, taking an existing title and DS-ing it. I think anyone who has played the most recent two Tiger Woods titles and loved should be impressed with this. The top screen displays the course, zoomed into (in the Cube version you press and hold the Y button) so you aim at the flag. You can also see the wind speed, distance up/down and to the flag, and when the ball is in motion, watch it. The same aiming would also be used when putting.

The bottom screen would play host to the initial pictures you'd see when playing the console version of this title. Your golfer, standing over the ball with his club. Now, like in the Cube/PS2/Xbox title, where analogue swinging was applied, something similar will go on here. You guessed it, dragging the stylus backwards, for the backswing, and forwards again, for the forward swing would be how you make contact. And as with home versions of the game, you can draw and fade the ball by dragging the stylus diagonally! Then, when in the air, a huge golf ball will appear on the bottom screen, which you need to drag in order to put spin on the ball, just like the home versions again, only tweaked again. The same would go for putting, and you'd have to keep a steady hand to make sure you could drag the stylus as straight as possible.

Here is the first mock-up I've conjured:

I personally love this idea more than the last two, it really demonstrates how the DS, with its dual screens and touch screen can revolutionise how we approach games. Then, of course, you can always play multiplayer around the links, with the possibility of two people competing and once, to save waiting.

Keep posting any ideas you have in this thread...and I'll keep editing when I get new ones.

The DS is perfect for Monkey Ball.
The bottom screen could be a top-down version of the map, and where you press down is where the map tilts. The further towards the edge you press, the more the map tilts, and the more speed the ball picks up.

Something simple like that.
MB's coming out for DS anyway, so I'll expect they'll do it like this.

Heh, if I put more time in I could get them to look so much more realistic, but truth be told I can't be bothered. Oh, and Dringo, I stuck a pic of the new NGC and DVD in the NGC thread if you're interested.

Its quite apt that you are creating these mock ups, as in the most recent issue of NGC they covered fakes/rumours and i beleive they asked that if you've made any to send them in. So it might be worth sending them, either to get the published or for the possibility of a prize :P

Well they started diagnosing people with 'Nintendo Thumb' (whilst showing PS2 controllers in the newspapers as the cause) around the time Mario Tennis was released on N64...next it'll be "Nintendo Finger" or "Nintendo Wrist"

As for the idea of making sonic run faster by rubbing the screen - sounds like a pretty pants idea to me.

I bet it took their researchers a whole ten seconds to conjure that idea.

That isn't a game, its a showcase for what the DS can do, a demo if you will. It isn't going to be released that way, if it were it'd be boring beyond belief!
