...Or merely overlooked?
The other night I was flicking through the channels, got onto Channel4, and the announcer was in the middle of saying "And now our movie premier of ..."
He said something about it being a Directors Cut, and I thought "hmm, ok, might be worth watching" so I stuck with it. Now I had no idea what to expect, or even what it was about, but I was really impressed with it. It turns out the film was called "The Big Blue" and was basically a romance/comedy thing, or something... ...but anyway it was SO GOOD. I have no idea why it appealed to me, but it really was good. So has anyone seen it? Did you enjoy it? And have you got any obscure films you've seen and thought were good but no-one's ever heard of before? Tell me about them then dammit! I'm sure Goatboy will have loads ;P
I love watching a film by accident, or for no particular reason, and then it turns out I really enjoy it - it's much more satisfying than going to see a hyped up movie, and then just thinking "yeh, it lived up to it" or "all that for that pile of rubbish?!" I think probably because you don't expect it, and can come up with your own views before anyone gets the chance to influence your opinion. Or something. =] (someone agree with me, tell me I'm not mental ;P)

Hey I have a film. Biggles was pretty obscure. But some guy bought the movie rights to all the books so there might be more Biggles movies. Although the first Biggles movie was pretty bad. But it was bad in a good wasy.

Godfather, I remember wanting to see that film about the dogfighting when it came out, never got the chance - someone tell me when I can rent it =]

And thanks for the suggestions everyone, I'll look out for them. I really wish I had Film Four, I know someone who has it and says it's mostly rubbish, but if I could I'd get it just for when there is something good on.

As for Leon, phew, another amazing film. Gotta love the last bit, where... well I won't spoil it ;] I think I've seen the directors cut, it was on TV (again Channel 4). Infact Channel 4 have all the best films.

Does anyone remember when they did a series of short animations quite late at night, it was about a year ago I think, and I saw one about an aged couple who lived in the country side, and there was a nuclear fallout. Really unpleasant but pretty deep.

It's well funny in big blue with that old battered car when they pushed the windshield though just to look at the ocean. I think they fixed hinges on it hahaha. Jean Reno is well funny.

Has anyone seen him in la femme nikita as "victor"

Well it is David Lynch I guess.

That is the weirdest the film I have ever seen. I mean, there is a woman living in a radiator with muffins in her cheeks. And what the hell was with that ending. The baby E.T grew huge and hit Henry. Poor Henry. "I just cut it like a regular chicken, right". Ha ha ha.

Now an obscure film that is worth watching is Suture. It is rather like Memento, which nobody seems to have seen either. Anyway, it was supposed to be on a few weeks ago but it was cancelled for some reason. They said they'd show it again in the near future. I think it was on either BBC2 or ITV so watch for it. It is really strange but really good.

By the way, the French guy was called Jean Reno.
