I really am obsessed with this I have read all magazines with Gamecube information in them 10 or 20 times, i go on the Internet and go on Nintendo.com at least twice! I sit up all night watching the Game network desperate to see that Luigi's Mansion video one more time.
And this is where I suddenly realized Nintendo had a problem, when i wait for a Gamecube video i end up sitting through hundreds of Playstation 2 games! I am now tempted to get one (but i can't afford it). I asked myself why can't the Gamecube have these games well due to their lack of 3rd party support.
Oh they have much more than the N64 that is for certain and they will even get a 3rd Party launch title which the N64 didn't have (Resident Evil 0). But I really believe 3rd Party Developers see the Gamecube a system which doesn't deserve their attention unlike the Playstation as they can make more money that way. So Nintendo maybe getting more 3rd party support but it still pales in comparison to Sony's!
But do Nintendo need as much as Sony?
Sony are not the greatest games company in the world they rely on the 3rd party support meanwhile Nintendo probably is the best and so, although we may not have Final Fantasy, we get Zelda. and, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin, Too Human, Luigi's mansion, Donkey Kong Racing, Starfox Adventures, Perfect Dark, Banjo, Smash Brothers, Metroid, Conker, Raven blade, Excite bike, 1080 snowboarding and so many more...
Nintendo do need 3rd party but not in the way as Sony do who they rely on them to survive. Nintendo and their 2nd party developers, Retro Studios, Rare, Silicon Knights and Left Field can do without 3rd party support.
Nintendo and their 4 friends do need the aid of others but together are an unstoppable force. This team is why people love Nintendo and will continue to love Nintendo not the fact we get the odd Resident Evil. Now lets hope Nitnendo can sign a deal with good friends Camelot.
Here's to the future

Yeah, I wish. Me and my bro are getting PS2 as a joint present, and i always get around £200 for my birthday!
But heres a tip, it works, trust me. This is my console plan:
I'll buy games such as Headhunter and Shenmue 2 for my DC, I'll keep my DC for ever not selling it...
At christmas i'm getting a PS2...
And for my Birthday i'm getting a Gcube..
Also, i've convinced my lil' bro to get a GBA for his b'day in January. (If you have a lil' bro show them your magazines and screenshots of the GBA)
So thats my next 5 years of gaming sorted out...
> So you haven't played Sin and Punishment then?
