I'm not going to tell you the plot, and what happened, and what is going to happen, as you should watch it and find out for yourself!!
There are 6 main characters. There are 2 that the program appears to be mostly based on, including David Lister, a lazy, disgusting person, who enjoys annoying people, and crying at movies such as Casablanca. But he can be very nice, and VERY funny. He is played by Craig Charles, who does an excellent job.
The other is Arnold J. Rimmer, a pompous, annoying, thinks-he-knows-it-all person. He is a Hologram (in other words, he's dead, and he is a projection of Rimmer created by something called a Lightbee) and he hates Lister, as he is the complete opposite to what Lister is. Unfortunately, he was brought back as a Hologram by the ship's computer, Holly, to keep Lister sane.
While Lister never does anything, and never cared about getting a decent job on the mining ship Red Dwarf, Rimmer always tries to work hard, and his main ambition was to be an Officer. Does Rimmer ever become an Officer?? Well, I'll say this much, he has failed his Astronavigation Test 13 times before.
My favourite character has to be The Cat. Cat evolved from a real cat into a cat-like person. He loves fish, as well as loving himself. He also loves his clothes, and he has a huge wardrobe. Most of the time he's eating, looking for women to... you know what and making things his, by spraying this stuff all over it.
The other is Kryten, a Mechanoid. He worships Lister, and likes doing chores such as Ironing. He is also quite sensitive, which leads to a lot of laughs. He also is able to portray a series of emotions which other mechanoids cannot, thanks to the help of Lister.
The fifth character is Red Dwarf's computer, Holly. He is meant to have an IQ of 6,000, but due to loneliness (watch to find out,) he becomes computer-senile, and his IQ falls to around 50.
The final one is a woman. Her name is Kristine Kochanski, and Lister is madly in love with her. Unfortunately, she isn't hot for him, but wants to be 'good friends' instead.
There are many more hilarious characters in Red Dwarf (my personal favourite is the Talkie Toaster,) and this is the biggest reason why Red Dwarf is such a success.
Most of the time, the crew just travel around space in Red Dwarf or the little ship Starbug, getting into trouble with aliens, different timelines, their future selves, anything and everything really!!
The gags are hilarious, including long insulting names, stupidness from characters and plain funny jokes.
This has to be the funniest comedy I have ever watched, thanks to great acting, funny characters, a good plot and some hilarious gags!!
I definitely recommend Red Dwarf to anyone. 10/10.
Thanks for reading, Ant.
I'm guessing it's a white hole....

The episodes called Queeg, if you remember correctly Queeq was actually Holly, so he was lying about the IQ.
I love Red Dwarf too by the way.
I'm a RD fanatic, as you can probably tell by my name. I've watched every single episode and know most of them off by heart.
