Many people have been asking what’s up with the Dreamcast and what’s going on with, so I’ve decided to make a massive report on the DC and what’s going on at the moment, getting my info from everything I can find I hope it helps many people out with the DC.

Finally the fans of Sega have yet another Sonic game to get there sonic hungry hands on… As man y of you might know this is Sonics Tenth Anniversary (Happy Birthday Sonic). With Sonic boasting brilliant game play in 26 games on the Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Mega-CD, Mega Drive 32x, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, Neo Geo Pocket Colour and the huge hit to be Game boy Advance!
Yes, are friend Sonic has seen it all, saving the world from the evil and cunning Dr. Robotnic, making friends with orange creatures with two tails and beating off many rivals! Rumoured to be Sonics last birthday many fans will be unhappy, and with rumours of Sonic being sold to another company the future doesn’t look bright for a spiky, blue haired friend!
With Nintendo and Microsoft stealing the show at E3 with there brand spanking new consoles the Dc felt a bit aged, but still boasting some brilliant title’s, Shenmue II, Virtua Tennis 2, Propeller Arena, Project K, Phantasy Star Online Ver.2 and Foliage Brothers.
Disappointingly Alien Front Online, Bomber man Online, Ooga Booga, Sega Bass Fishing 2, NBA 2K2, NFL 2K2 and NHL 2K2 wont be reaching the British shores with just a release in America.

But as well as Sega showing games off for the Dc they also showed off Virtua Striker 3 ver. 2002, Super Monkey ball and a version of PSO for the Gcube. For the Xbox Sega displayed Gun Valkyrie and Jet Set Radio Future, looking similar to the original but boasting larger levels and a greater draw distance. Also on the Xbox were games such as Crazy Taxi Next, House of the Dead 3 and Sega GT 2002. And also if your really disappointed with NBA 2k2 and NFL 2k2 not coming out in Europe they’ll be found on these shores but on the PS2 and Gcube.
Peter Moore. President and chief operating officer state “Sega have been a third party publisher for only a few months and already we have an unprecedented line-up across all platforms. Sega has the talent and the experience in making great content to become a publishing powerhouse and once we finish laying the foundation, we will be unstoppable. This is only the beginning for the new Sega.”
I’ve got some bad news of the fans of Black and White and Half Life, two of the most highly anticipated games to come out on the DC look like they won’t be making an appearance after all. Sega have decided to stop the production of the PC conversion B&W. The makers LionHead are still hoping to see the game on the DC looking for a new publisher.
It is rumor that Half Life might not be on are lil’ white box either, nothing has been stated with reports of online retailers offering refunds to customers who had pre-ordered the title and refusing to take new orders.
The makers Havas have refused to make a comment on the futre of Half Life… I’ll inform you if I have any more news on the subject.
Phantasy A Go!
Anyone that signed the petition for PSO Ver.2 to come out in England can give them selves a pat on the back. Sega and Sonic team had a meeting last month and it looks like it went well. Sega Europe are expecting a release in Europe about August. Hopefully after the bad news before this might of brightened you up.
Dreamkey, Yes or No???
The much-awaited Dreamkey 2.5 has once again been scraped. To be replaced by a new and improved browser disc.
Sega plan to release Dreamkey 3.0 in September, although Sega has not stated how you can get your hands on one. With the ability to select your own ISP massive online bills can become a thing of the past.
Dreamkey 3.0 will offer full mouse compatibility, a smaller default browser font and improved Java and Flash support.
It is not known if that 3.0 will include the Dreamnote instant messenger service- that uses the microphone so that you can chat to mates online- initially an idea for Dreamkey 2.0 back in October 2000.
Japan Run out!
Is this what will come of the DC… The DC has officially sold out in Japan, with no more Consoles left in the factories. Any Japanese Punters looking to buy a DC will be very disappointed, it is said that the sudden growth in sales are attributed to recent price cuts and the release of PSO. Not to worry though as Europe have no sign of selling out before 2002.
Shenmue II is ready for the world!!!
Yes you heard me right Shenmue II is finished. Due to early completion of the sequel the European release date may be bought down before Christmas 2001. Initially scheduled for early 2002. Though Sega Europe cannot confirm this.
Am I compatible???
You’ll notice the Bleem! Packaging carries a warning that states Dreamcast s built after October 2000 won’t be compatible with the Bleem! Disc. Bleem! Inc stated “Sega supposedly closed the hole in the system that was the MIL CD format, in October. Apparently, other than a few systems in Asia , this doesn’t seem to be the case and Bleem! Should be compatible wit all systems in Europe regardless of when they were built.”
Sonic moving to different things!
Sega and Sonic team have announced that Sonic is heading to mobile phones in a side-scrolling platform. Other titles for mobile phones include Space Harrier, Samba De Amigo and Out-trigger. Currently only playable on the I-Appli only available in Japan, hopefully Sega will offer the same service for the next generation phones in the UK.

Sonic is still in the top 5 after all this time, mainly because of it’s price drop it continues to sell well. And with CM and Daytona dominating the sales since realese it certainly shows.
