"Console wars"

so many people complain about the war of the consoles. However i personaly believe that it is a good thing.
Surely the competition makes the pricing of games come down. Also why people argue about which console is best is beyond me. Surely whatever console each user prefers is up to them. But why do they feel that they should try to convert everybody else onto using that console?

Whenever i quoted DC games to people who had a PS2, they all said "But the PS2 hasn't been out long, wait a while".

Yet here is a PS2 owner who is showing off games to defend himself against a console thta hasn't even been released yet!

What do you think about a game where you control consoles and they have weapons and you go around shooting other consoles. And the title shall be CONSOLE WARS!

The PS2 DVD player is built into the Emotion Engine so that developers can add MPEG2 footage into their games, not to play DVDs, Sony just noticed Toshiba had done this and decided to use it to play movies, that is why it isn't very good!!!

Ahhh... so you did purchase the PS2 because of the DVD player?

(This isnt to have a go... its just that there was a discussion a little while back, where PS2 owners stated that no PS2 purchasers bought the machine because of its DVD attributes?)

Its the heavy PS2 fan base on this forum which is placing a more Anti-X-Box feeling about here...

It doesn't appeal to me, GT3 does!!

Didn't you see E3 there's more than that, that will appeal to all gamers.

they sure do. Luigis mansion and the Zelda games aren't my cup of tea anymore. I ownerd a SNES and those games were Ok when I was about ten but now I want to be able to play games like GT3, MGS2, Res evil CV, and many others which I won't bore you with. In my opinion the PS2 games are better but thats just because they are games that i like playing.

The GC is using those discs cos to fight piracy!

Alot of people today were moaning saying I wasted money buying a PS2 and that I would have been better waiting for the GC as it would be around £100 cheaper. The reason it will be £100 cheaper is that it dosn't have a built in DVD player. One other thing I noticed about the gamecube is the disks it will use. nintendo are using small 1.5-GB proprietary optical
discs with a diameter of 8 cm (3.14 inches). A compact disc has a diameter of 12
cm (4.72 inches), which is the size of the Sony game discs. This mean the PS2 will play my old PS1 games. Why are nintendo using small 1.5 GB disks? The PS2 & X-box use DVD which hold 4.7GB(single sided single layered) and could use up to 17GB if they were double sided, double layered. So i think I made the right choice and also the PS2 games appeal more to me than the GC ones.
