Here's a quote from SCEA (taken from another website) regarding the figures, and why even Nintendo making such a statement should be regarded as quite silly;
PS2 takes record from GBA
Sony Computer Entertainment America has issued an official statement in reply to Nintendo's claims that the Game Boy Advance is the fastest-selling console to date.
The Game Boy Advance chalked up sales of 500,000 across North America in its first week of sale from June 11, leading Nintendo to make the claim. However, Sony's PlayStation2 actually sold 510,000 units in just two days of going on sale.
Sony's official statement reads: "While Nintendo must be commended for the sales of its machine, in reality the PlayStation2 sold three times as fast when it was initially launched, and we could have sold as many as three times the amount we achieved had we anticipated the demand. Also worth pointing out is that the PlayStation2 can not really be compared with the Game Boy Advance, due to the different price brackets of the systems. The PlayStation2 is a complete multimedia package, and costs four times as much; it's pointless even making a direct comparison."
I think these big boys should channel more of an effort into making their consoles be as brilliant as possible, and not channeled into to the stupidity of the console wars topics in these forums, mines is better than yours HA!!!
At least Sony have justified the situation, and lets hope that Nintendo don't get into a pie flinging match as there really is no point. The simple fact is, the PS2 and the GBA are in different markets. I just want to see if Ninty are so smug after the launch of the Gamecube!!
> What the hell is Sony on about.
What a stupid comment.
Eh?
What a stupid comment.
