Today, Sunday 24 June 2001, Paddy Vieria announced that he is going to leave Arsenal, because he wants a 'New Challenge in his life.'

What more of a challenge is there? Trying to win the title from Utd and win the Champions League at the same time!

I suppose their is a better challenge in Italy! Trying to help Inter Milan regain there strong hold on the championship.

Yes but whilst on strike the player is losing valuable time in his career. At a loss of £35m Arsenal could stick him in their reserves for the next three seasons. It won't happen cos they can not afford such a write off. Shame as it would do the game the power or good for a club to make a stand against a high profile player like Vieira.

If Arsenal do keep Vieira against his will, he will just go on strike. Arsenal will almost certainly cash in.

If Vieira goes it will not be to Man Utd or any Italian club. He will go to Spain.

He is still under contract to Arsenal - so Arsenal have the option of keeping him against his will or allowing him to leave provided it is not to an English club. Vieira has already said he will not move to Italy following the racial abuse he suffered when playing against Lazio. Realistically that leaves Spain as the only option as I would doubt he would go to the German league.

What do Arsenal fans think of Petit moving to rivals Chelsea as Petit was confirmed in a press conference today?

It's obvious. Vieira is DEFINITLY not staying at Arsenal. Vieira wants trophies so Man Utd is an option. Germany and France don't have the pulling power. So that leaves Spain and Italy. Vieira has said no to Italy so Spain and Man Utd are left.

Vieira has ruled out Italy. So it is either Spain or Man Utd.

apparently juventus are the favs to land vieria. They do have a few black players there, but i dont know how bad the racism is. Anyway they should have loads of cash, with them selling Zidane.
