It annoys me when people who have something in particular, such as money for example, keep on wanting more even though they have got enough; being greedy.

This is the case with such electrical megastores such as Dixons or Comet. They already have enough, so why can't they 'give' some of it away. They could do bigger sales, cheaper cut prices, or organise giveaways, yet they don't, they just keep on raking in a massive profit after selling products at high, high prices.

Take Dixons. It's worth around £2 billion - so in other words, that is how much they have in the kitty. Yet still they proceed to take our money, which is little compared to the amount they already have. For once couldn't they lower prices just a bit, so the profit they make isn't as much, or even lower them so much that they would lose money on every sale. This in turn, would attract new customers to the store.

This doesn't just apply to games. Everything in these stores has a massive buffer profit. Why do they need so much? I don't know. Dixons in particular are already the biggest electronical retail company in Britain, what more do they need? It just puts me off buying stuff altogether.

Small, independent, one-shop companies almost succeed in doing this. Because they are so small and unknown, and are situated usually in cheap to rent areas, they are able to offer cheaper goods. SR is like this.
Because the bigger companies already have so much money, how can they afford not to lower prices. And what's worse, bigger companies drive the smaller cheaper places out of business, because people think that these bigger companies are better, when in fact they are actually worse.

It seems all people want to do today is to be a greedy filthy rich person. Its the customer that counts. Without customers, there is no business. Companies should respect their customers like SR do, not necessarily by supplying them with a forum and a GAD, because this would not work with large business', but by simply lowering prices.

Thanks for reading - I hope Mr. Dixon or the CEO of Comet sees this!

Obviously high rent prices play a small part in Dixons stupidly high prices, however a high rent area also means more bussiness so I dont buy that explanation. Theres no reason for not pricing your goods at a fair price, go into Dixons and see how cheap a bog standard 56Kb modem is and youll see what I mean.

Yeah, that's what I said - "Small, independent, one-shop companies almost succeed in doing this. Because they are so small and unknown, and are situated usually in cheap to rent areas, they are able to offer cheaper goods." (quote)

Because they rent out cheap areas, they dont have to make such a big profit to pay the rent.

Oh, and I also have the Richer Sounds magazine, and I think you'll find you got that bit of info from page two in the 'Why are we so cheap?' column in the top right of that page!!!

Dixon's shops are in prime locales and such they have stupid overhangs. That's why Dixons will always be more expensive than, say, Richer Sounds.

Perhaps a better question is why the prices differ so greatly between Dixons and Currys compared to PC world.

PC world has quite a range of stock and so its prices of computer goods are reasonable (as opposed to extortionate), however Dixons and Currys still expect us to spend £50 on a 25 pack of CDRs, and their cheapest 56Kbmodem is £50 too.

Surely these companys just prey on the stupid who want to buy everything at it RecommendedRetailPrice (RRP).

However what really annoys me is that whenever a company officially lowers the price of its products (For example when Sega dropped the price of its Dreamcast), Dixons takes out a full page spread in every major newspaper and advertises its "massive savings"... when in reality there is no saving from Dixons itself its just the RRP has been lowered.

Its missleading, it also preys on compulsive buyers who want to buy the discounted item immediately.

Actually no I'm serious - Dont shop at Dixons. I just realised:

If no one shops there then Dixons will have to make things cheaper to beable to sell them.

Instead shop at SR - they're cheap all the time. Then when Dixons get cheaper go and buy that Hi-Fi that you've always wanted for cheap, cheap prices. Dont buy Games from there, mind!

And sooner or later everyone is going to think like you and as a result Dixons will lose sales.

Just ignor them and get the best deals for YOU!

I'm aiming to get free games from this site for ME and FOR ME ONLY!
