Has anyone ever thought that the site is made by the actual AI engine they're using for the game? Long shot, but it would explain why it only makes partial sense, and most of the layer positioning is decided by maths and stuff. Again, long shot, don't stone me, just a suggestion.

Well, (It's a bit obviosu but i'll say it) Halo 2 definately WONT be released on the 24th August because it's gonna be playable at Gamestars Live in September.

Good suggestion, but the actual changes etc are triggered by a java script thing, plus words in the html tie in to the blog on a seperate site. Nice idea though, I think it's more likely related to a Covenant AI.
If any Halo Fans have not read First Strike yet, or Fall Of Reach, then get them because without it you're going to be missing a massive chunk of the story, they also help you make a little sense of this site, and also First Strike makes you wonder just what on earth will happen in Halo 2. I you want an idea as to some of the info in First Strike I'll put a few bits below.
MINOR SPOILER: (Don't read down)
*There are at least 4 more Spartan's intact and alive - 3 are with the Master Chief and another on an as yet unknown mission with Dr Halsey, the creator of the Spartans.
*The Covenant ship Master Chief jumps from during the very first trailer for Halo 2 is a captured one, there are 3 more Spartans and several more UNMC personnel onboard.
*Sergeant Johnson, seen in Halo, is alive and somehow his body rejected the Flood.
*The number of Covenant ships is such that Earth cannot possibly be defended for any length of time.
*The Covenant have AI's like Cortana, and Cortana herself has split herself up. She's not the same Cortana she was in the game.
