If not, then it's probably because you can't see past the end of your own noses!!

Sega has officially signed a publishing deal with SCEE, signalling the end for Sega in Europe and the rise of SCEE to be the second biggest software publisher in Europe (behind EA of course!!). Did you think that your beloved Sega would hold your hand through the final year of the DC and nurture you into making a stable choice for the future of your gameplaying?? then you would have been sorely mistaken, Sega is now no longer a force in Europe, and where Sega once stood, Sony is standing even bigger. All you can do is hope and pray that the little blue munster that they call Sonic hits a European console. Gamecube fans may even see one of their top titles, Super Smash Bros. Melee canned for a European release if the reported appearence of Sonic and chums proves to be true, as the new deal with Sony is rumoured to include the rights to Sonic games. Whether this also means Sonic appearances in other Sega games is yet to be disclosed but a real possibility!! This could also see the rumoured Gamecube and Xbox games Sega are producing be published by Sony in Europe, giving Sony an even bigger strangle-hold on the European market.

Maybe this isn't true, maybe the deal just covers games to be released on the PS2, but this has to be one of the scariest things anyone opposed to Sony has heard for a long time. The PS2 is just beginning to take off in Europe with Sony's AAA titles finally hitting our shores, and these will be bolstered for definate by Virtua Fighter 4, Ecco the Dolphin, Ferrari F-355, two Space Channel 5 games and a currently secret game going by the name K-Project. Excited, well you should be, also rumoured to be hitting the PS2 before next summer is an exclusive Sonic game!!

Only time will tell, but Sega and Sony in the same boat, can only be good for us PS2 owners, that's for sure!!

Dan uk is right, I exaggerated the story to spark some life into the forum and failed miserably, Sega have signed a deal with SCEE to publish Sega games on the PS2 in Europe, however this deal does not sign over any rights from Sega to Sony!!! The way I wrote it would have had massive implications to the future of gaming and what did it get 12 replies whilst the clocks go nuts in the Chat forum. Something has got seriously screwed in these forums!!

We've said already. Sony are only publishing the games that Sega release on the PS2. It has no effect on what Sega does for the GC and Xbox.

I do NOT like the sound of this. I hope desperately for gamers on all platforms other than PS and PS2 that this deal covers only Sony consoles. As long as Sega survive in the end though that is the main thing. Hopefully Sega will again be in the position to publish all their own games and one day I hope get their revenge on all the companies that led to Segas down fall as a hard ware manufacturer. That would include EA and Sony. Long live Sega! But I still do not want them to sign over any rights to Sony anywhere. I want them to keep their complete independance.

Because it's a successor. It will have all the problems that all successors have. Look at films, whenever there is a series it's always the first one thats the best.

Also, surely the PS2 should be the Worlds Most Popular Console?

Don't get me wrong, i'm not slating the PS2, i just don't thing it's been around long enough to know for sure exactly how big it will be.

That's all very well and good but you're never bloody on!

Anyway, good post Bonus. I'm glad to see someone has sense. Sony will definately be a big player in the future, along with Nintendo. These are the only two companies I see succeeding, along with Sega via the Sony channel.

Fact: Sony is a force to be reckoned with.

Fact: Everyone slagging off the PS2 is either jealous or nieve. How can the World's Most Popular Console's successor fail?

Sony are only Publishing Sega's PS2 games.

That's all.

Any other titles are nothing to do with Sony. There to do with Sega trying to make back some of the cash it lost.

And Sony has not bought Sonic. Digi would've mentioned it somewhere if they had.
