I've always been able to play a PS2 for the odd day here and there, when my brother actually bothered to bring it back from Uni, but now its down to £99 I'm seriously thinking about getting hold of one of my own. Thing is, the console has a huge range of titles, and I'm looking at it for precisely the opposite reasons. I have about 3 essential games for it on my list, Stuntman (can't get over how much I LOVE this) San Andreas, and then Killzone.

Whilst I can always borrow a few of my brothers games, I'm not sure there is much else. And when I also own an Xbox and 'Cube, I'm not going to be buying a hell of a lot of 3rd party titles. Also, I need to find out about the PS2 online offerings, because if its expensive there is no way I can get it.

So, a handful of questions:

1. Online...how much, how easy, how good?

2. Any other games I might want to go for? I'm talking the top notch exxentials here, ones not available on other platforms preferably. Also take in mind I'm not a huge RPG or Stratagy fan.

3. Anything else I should know?

Cheers you guys, I'm very behind on PS2 news, in case you didn't work that out, so all help however small, and just however general, is appreciated.

If you like games where you have to shoot someone about 5 times for them to finally die, that is when the hitboxes actually register you're two foot away from them blasting a shotgun right in there back.

Then of course you've got all the muppet foreigners who can't read the two little letters saying 'UK' on the room name

Killzone and GT4 are both going to be amazing online. Perhaps even a reason to do so. I hope the killzone setup isn't sh*te like the SOCOM one. Some jack*ss always quits when they're losing, or a foreigner comes who can't communicate, effectively ruining the game for the team. They should have like special lobbies for different countries, and a warning to show if someone is a r**ard.

Ico 2 (called Nico, by the by. *smarms*) won't see the light of day for a good while yet. Haven't heard anything on it for ages.

No. That's the one thing I won't be doing. Not got enough money to get it going and already have Xbox Live so I don't really need it.

And yesh, I hear good things of this Ace Combat 4, and Ico 2 I am wanting as well.

Don't forget Ace Combat 4.
You'll love it, looking at the games you've picked. Hell, you'd love it anyway - bloody fantastic game.

Then you can wait for 5.

Managed to get hold of one today, off my mate who was selling. £60 for a PS2 with 2 official controllers, memory card, Gran Turismo 3, Onimusha and Gauntlet (which I have no idea of what it is).

Pretty pleased, really, because now I can get Killzone, San Andreas, Stuntman, MGS3 and Gran Turismo 4.

Hurrah!

The PC one had a mod kit and had loads of custom made levels on the net. The PS2 version however, was more streamlined in my opinion.

For DX2, the PC version is better due to the texture mapping pack. However, I used a control pad when playing it so that probably negated the main benefit of the XB version.
