The computer gaming industry is now growing to a much larger audience and publicising is very important for the sales of software and hardware in the market. Of course as the business is growing the companies have to make changes and new features to attract the new gamer. So it is no surprise that films have started originated from the hit games we are playing on the current consoles.

Don’t know what I am talking about? Well all these games will be appearing on the big screen eventually.

- Tomb Raider (Starring Angelina Jolie)
- Final fantasy
- Soul Calibur
- Duke Nukem (starring The rock!)
- Shadowman (starring Ice Cube… good thing?)
- Resident evil! Starring… David Boreanz aka angel and it could be here by Halloween!)
-Metal gear solid! (Hopefully starring Russell Crowe)

Now all of these games were massive hits and have or are making sequels and I think what better way to give a game campaign a good try than a film of it to get non gaming fans into it. I haven’t seen much about any apart from Tomb Raider and Final fantasy. Now apparently Tomb Raider is unwatchable Trifle but it does look good to me. But The Final fantasy movie looks… mind numbingly awesome! It is done virtually and the animated characters look so real and cool that any gaming fan has to go and see it, as it is all action and some great effects. When you first see the trailer for it you can hardly believe it is FF!

Advantages!
Well there is no question that stunning trailers like the Final Fantasy one will attract almost anyone and they would probably buy the console that the game was on just because of seeing the film. So the film essentially has to be a hit for the game to succeed if companies want to drag in some new customers then they will have to make it good.

Disadvantages…
Well obviously a non-gamer will look into the game if they see a good film but what will happen if the film is a blooper. Well I think for the moment a lot of companies will steer clear from movie making and wait for one of their rivals to fail first. There is no argument that to someone who doesn’t know much about games that an underachieving film good slightly discourage them. I will go and see some gaming movies but I know at this early stage not to expect too much.

So I think that it is another new gaming upgrade or feature and soon it will be quite common. But the future of this could go wrong… How? Well films could eventually replace gaming and just have more terrible sequels.

The end is nigh...

If they genuinely have a good story based on the game to make a film out of then it's great. Final Fantasy games are just huge stories so it was a grat choice for a film.

If you're making a film out of a game because it was popular e.g. Mortal Konbat or Mario then it's a guaruanteed disaster!!
