Plus my games collection is starting to look a bit lop-sided with DVD cases at one end of the shelf and larger boxes at the other end.
Also, if DVD boxes are cheaper to produce, how come the cost of games has not reflected this????
Who`s making a little bit extra money from all this, i wonder?
Any comments...?

Do you know, I Dunno ??? ... Ive been stacking my up of late....
Id guess Argos would be your best bet ... Although they may still be trying to palm off CD holders as DVD holders?

Why not buy a DVD rack?
But if we all do that anyway, why don`t they just sell

Because it would look amateurish...
There is a big difference between having a bog box... and appearing professional

Identity?? ... Why do you need identity in the boxes? ... You go in the shop... look at the front of the pack... if it interests you, you pick it up and take a look ... if it doesnt you leave it on the shelf :)
Besides... distributors often put the worst games in the biggest boxes to make them sell more than they otherwise would..
Hardback and Softback books are a different issue... Hardback books are the original format... and generall cost 3+ times more than their paper back equivelent (which are released 6 months to a year later...
Like I say... if PC titles are themselves are so desperate for identity that they need alternative packaging to make them stand out... then PC games really are in dire times...
The manufactuers covert from

That... and they have been being pushed toward it from the Eco-Kiddies :)
What does it matter if all game packages look the same... If PS2, X-Box, PC, etc... titles all look the same, then amybe it will be the games that sell themselves... and not the packaging?
Cheaper they tell us...

Naa... I think the cheapness reason is a waste of time... The amount of money saved is minimal (in fact it probably costs more to produce the plastic case than it does the cardboard box...
Maybe the developers and distributors do sell them to retailers a little cheaper (I dunno)... However, I cant see retails lowering the price of the title from 29.99 to 29.97
Also... I have noticed that EA have used the new packaging to hide their recent title price rise of PC titles... Most online game shops now sell EA products for 30.99... whilst other distributers titles still sell at around 26.99
But if we all do that anyway, why don`t they just sell us the CD & Manuals without packaging anyway????

But didn`t do the same thing when we had card boxes???
Well, you know what i mean... You could

lol... I kniw... but surly its whats inside the box that counts?
After I've taken the game out of thae packaging... I'll stick the box straight into storage... (generally within an hour of getting home with the title?)
