If you're getting it chipped get the Messiah 2 chip and get it done by someone you can trust and knows what they're doing. (and get a warranty)

I use the magic slide card - and with great ease too.
Didn't have to open my PS2 or anything, so the warranty would still be good - if I still had warranty.
