If you had the mates and equipment maybe.. I did about half of it single-player, found I couldn't get to a high enough level for the later levels without re-doing some of the old dungeons again which didn't really appeal to me. Hasn't been played for months, looks the tats though.

Yeah, Superstar Saga and Mario RPG are comical genius, M&L actually had me laughing out loud at my GBA.
If you look on IGN there's a short clip of the English language version of PM2. One of the characters says "Here I'd normally say something funny and witty, but I'm saving that for the final game".
Brilliant.
It wasn't that it was boring... just after a while you wanted something to happen to progress the game a little.
