Prince of Persia 2: The Warrior Within
Following on from an awesome original, this sequel has expanded the combo's and upped the gore levels. It ran very smoothly on the console versions. The prince still has the powers of the sands of time, and I only played a 35% complete version - but well.. this game just looks superb and I'm really looking forward to it

Halo 2:
Well, the only reason I'm still keeping my Xbox, after lending it to Hybrid-Halo for a huge number of months is this game, and I played it for about 45mins. To be honest guys, I know you all can't wait for this game, but its not that great... especially compared to the likes of Doom3. Infact, compared to Doom3, Halo 2 isn't actually fun, its more like a chore, and the only reason I continued to play it was for a cool gaming moment. Sure, its more realistic, and I'm only talking about the multi-player mode I blazed on for near an hour. Its just more of the same, and again.. compared to Doom 3.... Roll on Half Life 2 I guess?

Playboy: The Game
Hehe, well I couldnt turn down going into the little Playboy Mansion that was built now could I? Interesting game, you can arrange photoshoots with
Playboy girls and you have to manage the whole Playboy empire including the magazines etc. A lot like a mix between The Sims and Sim City. Suprisingly, I was quite impressed... although I was being shown the game by two playbunnies.

Burnout 3:
Really great fun, they've improved the realism and I guess the current consoles are now finishing their run in the market, they seem to have made Burnout 3 the most realistic of all the racing games. It's a great drive and the crashes you can simulate now. Well you can crash and still continue depending on your cars damage! Great

Metroid Prime 2:
Mostly superb stuff by Nintendo, but sadly its more of the same hit and miss combination of controls incorporated into the first Metroid Prime. The audience will be very divided by this title, but the multiplayer was very Goldeneye esque. And the graphics are up there with the likes of Halo 2. However, I'm very biased towards the Metroid series, as I think the storylines are deep and immersive. Hence the preview rating being upped a few

Timesplitters 3 :Future Perfect
I thought TS2 was an excellent game, I still play it well passed its release and its a console FPS that is built to work on a console, and not try and be a PC fps. It's fun, arcadey and just insane in the multiplayer modes. I walked into the booth to play it with baited breath. All the regular characters were their, throwing themselves through portals and the whatnot. They seem to have introduced a more arcade Time Crisis feel to the series, the graphics have had a new overhaul and I'm really really looking forward to picking this up on release date.
Excellent series! Well worthy of having a couple of sequels.

Ubisoft and Nintendo put on the best shows and best booths. Crowded with people throughout the three days. After a extensive play earlier this summer of the NintendoDS - I'm really looking forward to that handhelds release... but that consoles another story!

Hope you enjoyed some of those reads :)

Can't say I really like Timesplitters all that much. There were a couple of moments in Timesplitters 2 that were cool, like the wild west level. But overall it got boring pretty quickly for me. I'm also really not a fan of the aiming in the game. I played Timesplitters 3 at the Game Stars show and it was ok, but only ok.

I decided to try it while a friend of mine played Def Jam which was sitting next to Timesplitters. As for the best stands, I guess my vote goes to the likes of Microsoft, Ubisoft and also Activision.

I say Activision because 1, the Stormtroopers that were hanging around and 2, I was totally addicted to Star Wars Battlefront. Really wanted a piece of that brunette too.... At least I came away with a pic of her and me though mwahahahaha.

My fiancee's reaction to my pic taking was pretty funny. "I dunno what I'm more worried about, these damn models with their arms around you or the fact that you seem just as orgasmically happy to be around those stormtroopers !"

Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Halo...

Take your pick they're all better than the half-assed FPS attempt that is TS2.

TS2 beats Unreal because it fits into that kind of FPS area. But to say it is the best game over the 3 mentioned above is quite frankly laughable. The crappy floating crosshairs and lack of decent accuracy alone put it WAY below the FPS games of benchmark quality.

Online the series'll beat Unreal for sure and mabye some others. But offline it's really rather pathetic.

No you are very wrong, the team behind Timesplitters pretty much invented the successful aim feature.

A: Halo is just a polished all round FPS, why it is so popular I'll never know.

B: PD is techincally better but the change in graphics, speed and handling means that all modern day FPS' beat it.

C: Goldeneye spawned Timesplitters, it is a legend.

You are all blinkered.

What about Half Life, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Thief: The Dark Age/Metal Age, Doom, Ultimate Doom, Hidden and Dangerous?! Even Riddick...

Timesplitters and the like don't even come close, not remotely.

Of course they do.

Timesplitters 2 was one of my favourite shooters of all time. The games you listed wouldn't even come in my top 10, but that's my opinion.

In my opinion Timesplitters 3 looks to be a better game than Halo 2, Doom 3 and all the other overhyped shooters that are coming out soon. Not because it'll be technically better, but because I find the series to be far more enjoyable and it reminds me a lot of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark which are 2 of my favourite games.

Agreed.

But there is such a thing as "the better game". Whether it is interactivity within the environment or tighter controls, the better game does exist.

Then of course there is the TS2 single player...

I can understand some people wouldn't like it, but I did. The storymode although totally lacking any real story had some excellent level design and was good fun, even though a few of the levels were a bit on the cack side.

The challenege mode was where the bulk of the single player was found though and that was hella fun, just depends how much you like unlocking things and playing against bots I guess.

Oh, I can't agree that TS3 would be *better* than Doom 3, different, but hard to say better.

Doom 3 is about atmosphere and experience, TS3 is about achieving objectives.

They might have the same camera viewpoint, but I don't think that games in the FPS genre can be as easily labelled as that any more, there are different sub-genres within the genre, and different games are enjoyable for their different use of these genres.

I love Halo, but I couldn't turn and compare it to Timesplitters. Halo I would call a story driven adventure game, Timesplitters a puzzle game, modern version of Tetris :D

I would easily have no problems in buying both for their different strengths.

To draw comparisons and say one is better than the other is difficult.
