Prince of Persia 2: The Warrior Within
Following on from an awesome original, this sequel has expanded the combo's and upped the gore levels. It ran very smoothly on the console versions. The prince still has the powers of the sands of time, and I only played a 35% complete version - but well.. this game just looks superb and I'm really looking forward to it

Halo 2:
Well, the only reason I'm still keeping my Xbox, after lending it to Hybrid-Halo for a huge number of months is this game, and I played it for about 45mins. To be honest guys, I know you all can't wait for this game, but its not that great... especially compared to the likes of Doom3. Infact, compared to Doom3, Halo 2 isn't actually fun, its more like a chore, and the only reason I continued to play it was for a cool gaming moment. Sure, its more realistic, and I'm only talking about the multi-player mode I blazed on for near an hour. Its just more of the same, and again.. compared to Doom 3.... Roll on Half Life 2 I guess?

Playboy: The Game
Hehe, well I couldnt turn down going into the little Playboy Mansion that was built now could I? Interesting game, you can arrange photoshoots with
Playboy girls and you have to manage the whole Playboy empire including the magazines etc. A lot like a mix between The Sims and Sim City. Suprisingly, I was quite impressed... although I was being shown the game by two playbunnies.

Burnout 3:
Really great fun, they've improved the realism and I guess the current consoles are now finishing their run in the market, they seem to have made Burnout 3 the most realistic of all the racing games. It's a great drive and the crashes you can simulate now. Well you can crash and still continue depending on your cars damage! Great

Metroid Prime 2:
Mostly superb stuff by Nintendo, but sadly its more of the same hit and miss combination of controls incorporated into the first Metroid Prime. The audience will be very divided by this title, but the multiplayer was very Goldeneye esque. And the graphics are up there with the likes of Halo 2. However, I'm very biased towards the Metroid series, as I think the storylines are deep and immersive. Hence the preview rating being upped a few

Timesplitters 3 :Future Perfect
I thought TS2 was an excellent game, I still play it well passed its release and its a console FPS that is built to work on a console, and not try and be a PC fps. It's fun, arcadey and just insane in the multiplayer modes. I walked into the booth to play it with baited breath. All the regular characters were their, throwing themselves through portals and the whatnot. They seem to have introduced a more arcade Time Crisis feel to the series, the graphics have had a new overhaul and I'm really really looking forward to picking this up on release date.
Excellent series! Well worthy of having a couple of sequels.

Ubisoft and Nintendo put on the best shows and best booths. Crowded with people throughout the three days. After a extensive play earlier this summer of the NintendoDS - I'm really looking forward to that handhelds release... but that consoles another story!

Hope you enjoyed some of those reads :)

No but that's not the point. Nintendo have a fan base... they do, they do, they do. These are people who love Nintendo games and buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games. A.K.A me, and 90% of the users on the Nintendo forum. It is down to personal taste, but Nintendo produce more games than Sony and Microsoft and have their own unique style. Third party software is needed to boost the amount of games avalible for the system. But Nintendo have always known that the only time their system is in any danger is when EA stop developing games for them.

Well I find Sunshine more accessible than Prime by far. Golf no way but KArt, PAper Mario certainly.

All 3 consoles have their own games that you wouldn't see on the other systems. As for the comment of the ones on XBox and PS2 standing upto Nintendo's efforts, of course they do. It comes down to personal taste and just having the Nintendo logo on it doesn't make a game immediately made by god up above.

Metroid Prime and Zelda are stong games, but I wouldn't class the likes of Mario Golf and even Mario Sunshine on the same level as those.

Oh yeah so incredibly lazy, I can see that from here... damn them for not releasing many games this year it is as if there is some mega console release due soon that may determine the future of Nintendo.

Nintendo this year have published in the UK Crystal Chronicles, Kirby's Air Ride, Mario Golf, Pokemon Channel, Pokemon Colleseum and Wario Ware... and will publish Animal Crossing, Pikmin 2, Donkey Konga, Paper Mario 2 and Metroid Prime 2.

11 Nice little titles.

But we still miss out on a hell of a lot of good games. Burnout 3 is one of the best games I've played in the past 5 years, and we haven't actualy had any super mega duper games this year from Nintendo.

What have we had so far?

Erm....

We're getting Pikmin 2, Paper Mario, and Prime 2, but really, the only one that appeals to me there is Paper Mario, and that won't appeal to many others.

ninty are getting lazyish.
Boo.

Savatt Nintendo are and always have been (for the past 10 years anyway) a specialist company.

I didn't get Nintendo for Burnout and Far Cry... not even Resident Evil. I got Nintendo systems for Nintendo games, those specialist titles Nintendo makes.

Nintendo's main problem is that they publish only 10 games a year, and although that's theoretically alright... if you are only interested in 5 of the games you suddenly realise you don't have much options and look elsewhere.

It is important the Gamecube has third party support so there are a good 30-40 games to go alongside Nintendo's 10 or so...

Nintendo don't need the 1000 PS2 games released every year, or the 100 X-box ones...

Yes we get the fewer games. But we do get a nice variety. And more importantly those exclusive Nintendo games.

The whole argument behind third party support is that if Nintendo had as much as the PS2 and X-box... as in Nintendo gets the GTA's, the suffering's, the Devil May Cry's, the half lifes and the Burnout's... then what is the point in owning anything but a Nintendo system?

Sure Sony produce Wipeout and GT and Microsoft produce Halo... but do these relativaly small in quantity in house games stand up against Metroid? Zelda? Pokemon? Mario? etc... etc...

The answer is no. If Nintendo got all the third party support then Sony and Microsoft's consoles will really struggle.

But they don't. And this is how it works, the X-box and PS2 get the most of the good third party games, Nintendo get a fair share of third party classics as well as their own special titles.

At the end of the day, even if some of these games are only published by UbiSoft, its still a large difference in third party support and nowadays, a console developer really can't afford to gradually lose it. This is just UbiSoft, but it seems that the Gamecube is in this situation with other developers and when new console buyers go into shops and see a small choice of games, it tends to put them off and they end up looking at other choices.
