I've been playing the second like crazy and it is by far the most arcade like shooter I've ever played with so much re-play value.
Leaf Green, Paper Mario 2, Pikmin 2, Resi 4, Zelda are all givers but it is Future Perfect that I cannot wait for at the moment.
What about you?
"Plagarism all the way"
T'was very good, even though it was something like 30/45% complete.
I'm looking forward to the final release too, it was definitely more fun to play than the first two, IMO.
It is so artistically done with the ingenious style of paper ripping, slotting into bed plus with the addition of paper planes.
It is also so VERY funny, normal mario encounters have the story bolted on to it but with Mario RPG's they parody this idea and add in so much humour. Paper Mario plays like a living breathing pantomime of the Mario universe, it'll feel like a complete piece of Nintendo genius and is translated so well. A game that is fun to play, an RPG where you have far more control over the outcome of the battles, it breaths atmosphere, is immensly satisfying, funny and brimming with sub quests and things to do. It will be by far the most comprehensive Nintendo game released on the Gamecube by far.
This is why I truly adore Nintendo games, there are so many different types. Paper Mario hides all of these various Nintendo traits under its hat. The only thing missing is the trademark "4-player" mode. Something that Donkey Konga, another game I am truly looking forward to will include.
Donkey Konga in many ways is a new style of Nintendo games, introducing a new controller and a "dancing game" never done by Nintendo before. But the concept of a Nintendo "party game" that is built for "4 friends" is not new... in fact the recent Wario Ware is an example of just that type of game. Donkey Konga is going to be so much fun to play, granted it'll feel slightly limited in single player (somehting the 30 hour plus Paper Mario 2 will not struggle with) but as a game for friends it may even surpass the likes of Halo 2.
Multiplayer is being included into a lot of the Christmas line up. Games that have recieved heavy critical acclaim such as Pikmin and Metroid Prime are enjoying a new multiplayer modes for their sequels. Pikmin 2 just misses the Christmas rush but the game just seeps fun. Unlike Paper Mario it is not a long game, but like a lot of Nintendo's best titles it does have an awful lot to do. The Nintendo humour is apparently present, that frustrating difficulty curve comes into play in some parts. But it's the new exploration factor that'll give it that classic Nintendo feel is what I am really looking forward to.
Metroid Prime: Echoes, may seem much like the predecessor and bar a few moves will probably play like it. But that multiplayer mode will finally give the series some weight and combine that with a Christmas release. And maybe Metroid Prime can finally get a mass market appeal.
Nintendo of Europe's first Christmas (october - December) saw Mario Sunshine, Eternal DArkness, Mario Party 4 and Starfox Adventures become the 4 "big" christmas releases. The second one improved over that so much with 1080, Mario Party 5, F Zero and of course the system shifting Mario Kart. But this year's Donkey Konga, Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime 2 and Paper Mario 2 looks the strongest yet. Sure the competiton will stamp all over those games but to be fair we are recieving a very comprehensive and enjoyable Christmas line up.
Paper Mario 2
Viewtiful Joe 2
Resi 4
New Zelda
Metroid Prime 2
Pikmin 2
Baten Kaitos
What an awful, unloved console the Cube is...
To tell you the truth, I'm not all that interested in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, right now. It might be because I still have the first one un-finished; it might not. Although there's a new multiplayer mode I'll be looking to try, it still looks very similar to the last.
Unlike the latest Zelda and Mario, where the next release is significantly different to the last.
I'm also looking forward to either Baten Kaitos of Tales of Symphonia as a kind of 'replacemnt' for the incredible Skies of Acradia Legends. Though, right now, I cannot tell between the two.
> Don't think there's a Cube release as far as I know.
Now I wonder if there will be...
I mean I'll be surprised if the game appears on the PS2 and March and a Gamecube edition appears in May/June time.
*sarcasm doesn't work in text*
Don't think there's a Cube release as far as I know.
I haven't owned any of the Splinter Cell titles because I'm just not a fan of stealth titles. Will Chaos theory have the X-box 6 month thing again?
Chaos Theory is looking much better though.
Splinter cell did that to a lot of people.
Basically, they had a selection of games that were £15 or 2 for £20.
PN03 looked interesting but if I was going to spend £20 (I'm a bit strapped for cash right now) it would have to have been something special.
But hey, my brother managed to get a loan on his friend's Splinter Cell.
It's not bad but I don't get the hype, I mean, it's not "all that", you know?
