I don't know if this is a definate "yes", but it seems pretty certain by the looks of things.

Who, me? Yep, I've got the set (PS2, GC and X-Box). I also had a PS1 but I gave it to my sister.

I care. I never sell my games and if consoles weren't backward compatible, my room would be filled up with more consoles then it is already...

But would you still be able to play Xbox 1 Live titles online though?

I heard you'll need a new Xbox 2 Live account/subscription.

Never read into it much though - too busy reaping the greatness of the current system.

The other big issue with backward compatibility on the Xbox is that all my game saves, and vast amounts of them, are on the Xbox hard drive. So I'd have to have some way of transferring them for me to give up my Xbox itself.

In saying that, I never doubted we would see backward compatibility on the Xbox 2. Whilst a totally difference architecture, it is SO much more powerful, somewhere in the region of 15, that it really wouldn't be too difficult to write an Xbox emulator.

Backwards compatibility sucks.

You don't want to sell the first consoles games to fund the next one.

BOO!
