I mean some just look skanky. If you can cast your mind back to the Jaguar days, that was Ugly, with a capital U.The controller made me throw up.It was rough.Looked like Dot Cotton when she wakes out of her bed...It was just nasty.
But some consoles hold a sexy look.Look at the Megadrive 2.That has class that was umatched for its generation, sure you had the snes but it never had the evil look the megadrive holds.
It may have been slated for its "freezer" look but you got to admit,if you spend an hour with this baby in your presence you strangely seem to like its look, and off course im aking about the ps2.At first glance it is ugly but it is quite stunning once you get to look at it closer, with its blue and purple symbol, and its fierce balck exterior, you can tell from the look that this baby is packing some serious heat.
The N64 looked cool as well with its rounded edges and that gentle slope. Not to mention the huge symbol on the fron, which remains the best videogames symbol ever.
But as for the future, the X Box looks rathe col, going the same way as the ps2,with its black colour scheme. And that green is some what absorbing. The Gamecube is another neat looking console.Though it has been dissed with phrases such as "Lunchbox",you have to admit,The felling that you may own a console with a handle is quite cool, not to mention usefull.............lol.
Style is very important and I think this is one factor which the gamers have over looked but thankfully not the console designers

skanky.
You called?
:-D
Brilliant games like GT3 and MGS2 will still churn out the same way whether the PS2 was a solid gold sexy machine or not.
As long as the console plays well, it doesn't really matter. If it large and bulky I see that as a good thing, because then the console has enough room to operate to a better extent. i.e. cooling the processor.
When I play my games I dont even notice the console is actually there, focussing on the tv screen alot of the time. And when I'm not playing, it is usually covered up by my school books or other teenage junk.
In other words, a console should be judged on how it plays and acts as a console, and not how it makes a room look better.
