Er, you guys know the European release was last Thursday right? I haven't seen a single topic on it in here!

Anyway, I have just spent a week going through hell trying to obtain my advanced job in time for my non-importing friends starting the game... I would like to offer some advice. If you want to become a summoner - pick something else. You need to get an item that is probably one of the rarest drops in the game. I spent 18 hours killing the same monsters in the same location before I got one of these things to drop. It's just not worth it!

When travelling through the ranks I thought the sub-job quest would be the hardest I'd ever do, but ohhhh no....

It came out in the US *MONTHS* ago, I know that because I've been playing the US PS2 version for months, and I didn't even get it on release...

If you read below I do mean the PC version, but as I also said it is cross-platform. This is very much a Playstation game, just accessed through PCs by some people. Also as it looks unlikely there will ever be a HDD release in Europe this is the only way FF fans will be able to play it in Britain. And I think most FF fans will be in here.

Chains of Promathia is released today in the US, this is the 2nd expansion pack - but European players get that included for free when they buy the game.

Honestly this game is essential, it's gone down in history for me as the most involving and rewarding game I've ever played.

Was going to get it when i was in Canada but was unsure at the time whether i could actually play it when i got back home as i didn't know of the server thing. Will probably get it when i buy a new processor (me thinks my puny 1.7 GHz one won't suffice) and get a good broadband connection of my own

Anyway sorry for my coarse reply Darwock, had just read Wakka's Ghost topic and was tad annoyed at another useless topic being posted in here and you kind of got the aftermath of it

My friend logged on to my server for the first time last night - I sent him a tell saying I was on my way to Bastok to meet him and if he had any questions, fire away.

Five minutes later I get the message...

"How do I get out of my moghouse?"

LMFAO!!! It's not nice to laugh but still...

It's really weird having an actual friend in the game. Definitely cool though. I just need to find somewhere that it's snowing and I'll be able to join him as a level 1 summoner.

Yea it's always best if you can find friends as soon as possible in these sort of games, i remember when i used to play Legend of Mir (yes i know don't start :-D) it was really boring until i found me a couple of friends and then joined a clan. It's much more fun going through dungeons with a load of friends (use them as human shields if anything :-D) chatting away instead of going through the game alone

Well I agree to an extent but I've been part of a linkshell for a while, and despite this I've undertaken most of the challenging quests solo. I prefer the feeling of independence to be honest.

I had an offer of a high level escort to get through Ranguemont Pass last night (think Shelob's Lair, lol) but I preferred to buy myself some alchemists potions to make me invisible and silent and try to find my own path through before the effects wore off. Blew every last gil I had, but I feel chuffed I did it without assistance.

Damn, sounds like I need to try this out! Do you get a 30-day free trial or anything?

And what's the Monthly charge thereafter? All I've heard is US charges, with UK conversions.

I need to know how much the UK version is charging (if different)
