Strangely enough, i was talking about this with my mum the other day. The way these special days throughout the year really have no meaning anymore. No-one cares or even thinks about the events that they represent anymore. They're just all a reason for having a party or getting presents/drunk/stuffed.

That's what I was thinking. On a five minute walk to my mates house last night, I saw a whole display's worth of fireworks coming from various back-gardens.

It's the biggest explosion I'll see this year, unless I go to Iraq, or stare at the local chemical plant until my eyes melt the bits that make it not explode.
