In no order:
1) It was at the end of Secret of Mana on the Super Nintendo, my brother, my sister and me were playing at the end, and didn't expect the flammie dragon to be the final boss, it was an incredible final battle, with us talking to each other and helping each other charge up and defend, my character was near death, and my brother told me to charge up my weapon, so I did, he and my sister were defending and I had the only weapon that could hurt the dragon, it took about forty seconds to charge up and then I ran to the front and let out the attack at the same time as the dragon attacked me... we hit each other at the same time and my character died but the game was complete, this memory has stayed with me because I just can't remember a game that I have managed to complete and play through with two assistants.
2) In 1988 I recieved a Nes console with DuckHunt and a gun, it was a Japanese import and after a long time of my dad playing around getting it to work he managed, and I was glued to the game for about elevon hours without pause, I was three years old and this was the game that made me know that gaming was only starting....
3) In 1997 the Guiness Book of Records issused a challenge to all owners of a Super Nintendo and Mario Kart, it was to beat the time in the magazine and send it in, the time was on the original Mario Circuit in TIme Trial mode (no cheats apart from boost at start). I played it for over seven hours without a break, I was determind to beat it, I had two excellent laps and then ruined it on the last and new it would just be a matter of time... which it was because a few goes later I changed my character from DK to Bowser and smashed the time by two seconds, and my excitment was not contained I sent the time into Nintendo and companies to get theirs back and I beat the tester of the game at Nintendo and he was extremely impressed, it still remains my biggest achievement in video gaming, very close to the Goldeneye championships...
4) Last year I was sent an email by Nintendo (who were still probably impressed with my MK time) it was asking me to attend the UKCC in London and see how far I got in the Goldeneye qualifiers and then let them no, I was already quite good at Goldeneye and decided that practicing the game before going would have been a bad idea, I played it for four hours a week before going and that was it.... I went to the Posthouse Hotel in London and saw many many people who looked way too good, my moral was damaged when I was beaten in the practise session 0-1, I actually got quite annoyed and beat the stage one elimination person 7-0 in five minutes.... hours later I found myself being given the ranking of 12th best in the UK with my results of only one final defeat, (I mucked up by shooting the body armour onto him when he was near death so I lost 0-1). That was my second greatest gaming moment.
What are your top four memories of gaming? Any special ones?
Thanks

Anyway, nice post er-no. And congrats.
cool
I know. Now I've got a Dreamcast though so i'm not getting any new memories. Not good ones anyway.

Oh wait a good memory was when I finally beat Brazil while playing as Scotland in Sensible Soccer. Only later did I relise the level was at the highest.
Talking about Sensible Soccer myself and some friends would have leagues about once a week when we played each other!
Ach nothing beats nostalga!
the whole school year shoved in one classroom... watching 16 of us play Goldeneye at once! There were 4 in a team, who rotated whenever they wnated (eg, every time u are killed the next team member takes over). the rules? First team to 100 kills wins. (Different weapons for different games)
I was team leader (I owned the red controller:)
We lost... came 3rd oevrall, but it was so much fun! Now that's what gaming is all about
Sonic
There was also the time I flew off my bike and fractured my wrist. GREAT DAYS!
One of my best gaming moments was the first time I finished the rock hard challenge set on Micro machines V3. None of my friends have done it, or know anyone else who has. I did it a few times on PSX, N64 and PC, so it kinda lost it's magic after that. It wasn't as hard as I convinced myself it was.
Another good one was on street fighter 2 SCE on the megadrive. On the hardest setting I got a perfect on M.Bison with 86 left on the timer.
What else?
The time I played fast food (classic spectrum game, dizzy spin-off). Starting from the first level, I went right through to the thirtieth level, after which you get put back to the first level, but mirrored and upside down.
Got all the way up to the 27th level in this mode. I was very chuffed. never got near that since.
