Ok gonna be building a new computer around December time, just tryin to spec it out, gonna be my first build from scratch pc so if something looks like it's not going to work please let me know, well here's what i've come up with:

AMD 64 4000+ San Diego - £293
ATI Radeon X1800XL - £305
2GB Ram - either Geil or Crucial DDR PC3200 CAS3 2x1GB - £164
Hard Drive: Samsung 160GB Spinpoint Sata II - £59 OR
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160GB SATA NCQ - £63
Tagan TG480-U01 480W ATX 2.0 - £58
Antek SLK3000B Midi Tower Case - £34
LG GSA-4167 DVD+-RW Dual Layer - £31

I'm kind of stumped on the MObo though, dont relly know what i need, looking at Asus or a DFI Lan Party around £120ish if possible.

Any views or issues with these parts? Cheers Guys

OCer's is where I am pricing up my new system.

I have a smaller budget than you, around £400-600.

I'd go for the 7800GTX which equals/betters the X1800XL and is a damn site cheaper. You get some good, stable clocks out of it too.

What resolution/monitor set up do you play games on?

I've got a LG Flatron which i run at 1280 x 1024 which is it's max so that will be the max resolution i will use i suppose. Any particular version of the 7800 GTX because there seems to be quite a few and quite a big big price difference on some models? Cheers

Go for CAS2 rather than CAS3.

All credit to you here. Choosing a proper power supply rather than the usual cheap crap ones people tend to choose on here.

My TFT is an LG1710B 1280x1024, you won't need anything higer than the 7800GTX really for that res.

I got the Leadtek 7800GTX, with a BIOS flash you can take it up a little to meet the BFG/XFX Extreeme OC'd and it will over clock to the Leadtek Extreeme with some extra cooling.

What benefits does this have, is it really worth the extra money? I always thought it was more to do with overclocking.

Also found the 4000+ for £230 off another site, so i could splash out a bit more. I was thinking of buying different cooling stuff, either for the CPU or GPU, which ever is louder, will it make much difference over stock fans?

The coolest ISP ever!
In my opinion, the ISP is the best I have ever used. They guarantee 'first time connection - everytime', which they have never let me down on.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
