"Real Madrid - what's going wrong"

They're losing 1-0 to Rosenborg. At home. In the Champions League. No doubt the scorline will change a couple of times tonight, but I have biology c/w for tommorow, so I'll keep this brief. Just what is going wrong at Madrid. I know they're not perfect but they have some truly great players. Beckham, Ronaldo, Raul, Carlos, Zidane, etc. How can they keep losing?

Great players don't make a great team. Teams like Valencia and Deportivo have always done just as well as Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga and in Europe because of great teamwork. Of course, there will be some years in which they won't perform as well as the teams with the big-name players, but the last couple of times Valencia have won the league and been successful in Europe, they've done so with a squad which doesn't boast too many big names, and relies upon team performances.

Real Madrid didn't actually lose tonight, and any team can have a fluke result. I do get where you're coming from with them, though, as they do strike me as underachievers, considering the players they have available to them.

And suddenly Real Madrid are winning.

Well Woodgate, of all people, has managed to score the equalizer.

lest his Champions League debut is better then his la liga debut.
