The price of the PS2 has dropped by £30 which isn't that much as it is still a little to expensive, but this will most likely drop again nearer the release of the Xbox and Gamecube.
Sony should start introducing the Platinum range to PS2 titles, as there are a reasonable amount of titles starting to age.
They all stay high.
It's the prisoners dilema. For any individual company, it's better to be a little cheaper then your competitors, but for all companies as a whole, it's beneficial that they all work together and all keep their prices high. It's a possible cause of "rip-off britian" syndrome.
Exclusive titles aren't much fun. It would be so much easier if all consoles used the same code to run software. Then the choice of console would be more of a choice, too. base your choice purely on the price, controller, number of ports, accessories and suchlike.
To be honest, monopolies are good for the consumer, they standardise things. Nobody misses out. I'm not sure if I'd like to see Nintendo or Sony out of the hardware business, but I can imagine the benefits.
Where were we, oh yes, Console Wars! Who will win?
I said 'The gamers?'
What I meant by that is that a little competition usually benefits the consumer. None of the companies will want to price themselves out of the market, so we can expect low prices, and the games will have to be affordable too.
What will sell each console is not the FIFA's and the WWF games, but those that are exclusive to each platform. However, as Dreamcast owners will tell you, exclusive titles alone do not a successful console make.
We already know that EA are developing for all 3 consoles, and a wrestling game has been announced for each console too, so it is pretty much going to come down to which exclusive games you prefer on each console.
This is where I see Sega playing a big part. Now a third party developer they have a huge reputation for innovative and entertaining games. What they appear to be doing, from announcements so far, anyway, is dishing out it's big games to different consoles. Nintendo gets PSO, PS2 gets Virtua Fighter, Microsoft gets Jet Set Radio etc.
So the console that Sega fans will buy (assuming they can only afford one) will be the one which has more of their favourite games.
Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft seem to have wized up to the importance of exclusives, with each company signing up developers for some exclusive games, and buying shares in companies in order to make them exclusive.
But is this really a good thing for the consumer? If you want to play the best games you will HAVE TO buy every console.
Some have said in the past that they seen console becoming much like VCR's or DVD Players, all playing the same games with you choosing which model you prefer. With this latest generation, and the importance of exclusivity, this certainly doesn't seem to be the case!
It was fantastic, loved every second of it.
And Batman using the spray on a shark on his leg, he sprayed it and it fell off.
I don't think that logic was a main part of this movie.
It was funny though, especially with Batman and Robin in the Batcopter
