Good stuff, though it is a bit pricey for a 4GB HD.£100-120 would have been a better price point.

Compared to the current range of cards though, it's far cheaper. I just bought 2x 2GB Memory sticks by the way - goodbye to this month's rent!

But this is a HDD - Hard Disk Drive - implying magnetic media, not memory.

In principle it may be similar to the various types of non-volatile RAM, but they're very different things.

Even if Datel use crap memory in their cards, it has no real bearing on the quality of the HDD.

At current rates, $249 is around £141 - so it's not too bad.

Actually it does if you think about it.

Who's to say that crap quality doesn't extend to their other products?

It'll retail at £150, 141 is hardly a nice round price point.

I prefer the minimal appearance and weight of the memory sticks, hence I won't be going for it. Sure, it'll just be a slight added weight, but right now it's balanced, and adding some to either end will make it iffy.

The HDD isn't even made by Datel anyway; that privilege belongs to the consortium of Far East manufacturers who have the factories to do so. I'm guessing it's the same ones used for iPod minis.

Ipod quality is also questionable.

Whether amde by Datel or not, datel put out the finished products and some of those are of low quality.

Probably quite a few people who have used them in the past.

I had their PS2 keyboard which didn't function at all well with the YABASIC supplied with the original PS2.

On the other hand, I once had an Action Replay cartridge which I couldn't describe as anything other than superb.

Two completely different products, two completely different experiences. But as much proof as is required that you can't assume all their products are crap.

Or it could sell at £139.99...

Action Replay's their flagship product that's not likely to be poor.

'Some' of their other products still might be crap.
