Firmware will always be hacked hard-drive or not ... he says stroking his White v1.50 PSP :)
I won't be putting legal UMDs on it though.

They'll probably assess PSP sales before attempting it, but with a report/interview on IGN, they reckon PSP sales made them $400 million. As that was at E3, I suspect that was US sales only.
But to my mind it's risky anyway. One year is no time at all, and to be honest, does the machine really need a HD? Anyone serious about their music is going to buy a dedicated player anyway.
Anyway, as Lost in Tokyo said, it's hardly an official announcement! :-)
If it isn't picked up everywhere you'd get a 'have and have not' situation like with the PS2 HD.
Publishers would want to sell to the most amount of people possible so a lot of games wouldn't make much use of the HD.
I'm seeing my attitude towards Sony faltering with every single stupid announcement I hear.
From the well and truly dead Cg being the shader language for the PS3 to the PSP Region free scam (possibly) and now to the PSP HDD version.
Sony suck.

Remember this isn't anything official. It could just be marketing company speculation.
