Hey, it seams clear from the millions of posts me and bonus put on today (I put on about 60 and counting!), that between us we know everything about hardware... resolutions, 3d engines, buffers, I/O specs...

So if anyone has any technical questions post em here... and if you know the answer to posted question answer them... it's not just me and Bonus who will post the answers!

BTW, I have not consulted Bonus over this topic... he has no knowledge of it... until he reads this!

Why does it make me flinch and have spastic bowel control when I poke a knife into the PS2 hard-drive expansion port?

Will they ever release Barbarian for these next-gen consoles?

The Xbox will not run windows as you know it. It may contain a Windows CE core written especially for the Gamecube so that DX8 will have somewhere to stay. The OS will not be stored on a HDD like you see in PCs but will be the same as any other console (and this is what truely defines a console!!) and be stored in ROM. That is why when you turn on a console it is on, there is no need for mucking about loading things into memory so they can be used faster, they are already in memory, and in the fastest type of memory, much faster than RAM in a PC, more like you BIOS ROM. This way games can be allocated all of the resources available to the console and do not take up any RAM, and the reason your games console has about half the RAM of a decent PC. Question answered??

Ok, Internet Explorer has just crashed. No, really.

I was tapping the middle mouse button on and off, so you get that arrow thing... well, I did it too much, and now it's got a lovely warning in the middle of the screen. Fortunatly, that doesn't mean I have to close the window, but it does mean that Windows will probably lock up in a few minutes.

Anyway, my question.

Do you think the X-Box is going to be any good? They say that the games running on it at the moment only take up a third of the resources... I bet they haven't tried windows on it yet. If they did, I doubt they'll have enough resources left to play a sodding CD.

Ah, there goes the typing lag. I can now type sentances quicker than they appear.

Well, better post. See you soon.

I wouldn't go as far as saying we know everything about hardware, I would go as far as saying I know more than most, though. I couldn't tell you about the pipline structure of the emotion engine or about the make up of the emotion engine's SIMD extensions, but then if everyone knew that, then programming would be such a problem.
