OK, I've gone formal today - registered myself as a sole trader, got all the tax/NI sorted out, and I'm looking at redesigning my site.

This is what I've mocked up so far, and I know it's not perfect, but it's a start: http://www.ksdev.ath.cx/ksnew/website/design1.jpg

Any comments? I am going to go for the smaller design - the kinda centered box-style thing - because I think it will work better on the site.

My problem is that the design looks...well...amateurish. And that's no good now I'm pro! Lol. It just needs the little details sorting out, to get rid of the big blocks of solid coulour. Who knows :S

The page cannot be displayed

Nimco - if you're going pro you'll either need to leave your PC on or get some 'real' web space for examples and demos etc ;¬)

New one is good.
Old one is dirty, it makes me want to cry.

But I don't like the over use of 'knight' and the placement of 'mathew knight :: web design' on top of the image.

I'd make the navigation into a nice list and place it ontop of it, horizontally (
    's etc.).

I also have to say I'm not the biggest fan of '::'. I mean, seriously. Why not use a UTF-8 symbol? There are loads.

But with a bit of work, that (the second) layout is looking mighty fine.

On another note, I'm developing my site as well and I'm also having problems making it look professional.

10/10
Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Very pleased
Very pleased with the help given by your staff. They explained technical details in an easy way and were patient when providing information to a non expert like me.
