Maybe a different game series by another company ? I'd love to see the following titles come to the system...
F-Zero
Castlevania
Probotector (an version of the Contra series that had robots
replacing blokes as the characters you used)
Mario Kart
Obviously I'm looking forward to other titles such as another Conker's and stuff but these are already thought to be in the pipeline. I've mentioned ones that I haven't heard of being announced yet :-)
With the Gamecube having online capabilities, this could really benefit titles such as F-Zero and Mario Kart. Besides possibilities for online racing against other players, there could also be a site for players to visit where they can download new racers and tracks :-)
Now that consoles are doing the basics with online capabilities, I think it'll be a good step forward if someone of Nintendo's reputation takes things further with ideas such as downloadable levels, characters for games, etc. It would vastly add to the lastability of a lot of games and give us the players lots more value for money.
I bet a Castlevania game would look damn good too ;-) Always been a big fan of that series. Be interesting to see what ideas could come up there too :-) Afterall, Konami are a company that derserve a lot of respect too.
AND! Zelda: Links Awakening
Awww, how I miss that game :-(
NIGHTS!
But only if they improve it. Add a proper 2 player mode. Add longer levels. Bigger sstory and lots of FHVs. Bigger bosses! More character... the list of additions is endless... come on Naka-san!
Sonic
I think it will be excellent for the game industry if the Gamecube is successful. Whys that ? some may say - Simply because, to take steps forward, you need an ambitious company such as Nintendo who specialise in games to come with these big ideas. Companies like Sony have all the marketing in the world, but they don't share that same ambitious attitude that Nintendo and Sega both have to come up with these dream ideas. Of course Sony are ambitious at selling games, but thats not what I'm talking about. I think really the PS2 will be online capable because of the past worry that Sony would have to compete with Sega's Dreamcast. Its easy to copy, its a lot harder to innovate.
With Sega out of the console developing, its down to Nintendo to start really developing things forward. Microsoft are really just shoving PC parts in their console while Sony are happy to just shift out games and just copy ideas from other companies as they come.
Thats why, to me, its important that Nintendo remain a very big part player in the games industry, because without them, I think Sony and Microsoft would end up spewing out consoles that are more and more like PC's. Microsoft because its more their field and Sony because they'd just copy to compete while using their marketing to attract the public to their machines. Of course Sony could make new consoles, but I very much doubt they would make the same leaps as the likes of Nintendo and Sega have in the past upto now.
It would also be nice to see Final Fight again, but I think Capcom tend to stick to their current main titles such as Resident Evil and StreetFighter. Capcom love to milk their existing titles if they sell ;-))
Never know though, maybe they'll come up with Final Fight for the Gamecube :-) Especially if it sells well on the Gameboy Advance.
I really miss the likes of Final Fight and Streets of Rage, and I have been disappointed that the have not been brought out in 3D. The mighty Eidos had a crack at bringing a £d scrolling beat em up to us, but it was only average.
There have been other attempts, but they have failed to live up to the success and brilliance of FF and SOR.
When I heard about the Bouncer, my eyes lit up, but it then turned out to be full of FMV and less fighting, which if you ask me, is not what scrolling beat em ups are not all about. It's about the fighting, smashing things and people up. It was mindless fun, and I want more.
If the Gamecube gets a scrolling beat em up that turns out to be brilliant, then I might just be persuaded to buy it. I have already decided to get the GBA because it is getting Final Fight.
