Some of the comedy is witty, but most of it is far too reliant on sex jokes and crude things - like a loud fart.
Not exactly brit comedy at its best, plus the characters voices really grate.
Johnny's a bit of a wimp, Gaz is a bit of a lad. Use these traits to make lots of sex jokes (occasional anal, as that's funnier, allegedly)
and Louise is a terrible, terrible character.
Some people shouldn't be let out

Agreed. I get annoyed when people say "Americans can't make any good sitcoms", yet Arrested Development and CYE are both class acts (the fifth season started last night in America :0D). Smoking Room looked quite good, although I've only seen a five-minute snippet. It's got Robert Webb in it of Peep Show fame, so it has my attention.

Not my sort of thing at all, I prefer the gurning that comes with Spaced.
There are some good american sitcoms - Curb Your Enthusiasm, for example, is utter, utter genius, but it's hidden away here and poorly advertised. The Smoking Room is good too, but people get confused when they wear suits and think it's The Office. Even though it's nothing like The Office. If you put both down on paper, The Smoking Room would read like Shakespeare in comparison.

He did survive. Didn't you watch series five on BBC3?

Agreed. Plus the fact that Spaced is godly.
