I watched it dance my way
The beauty captivated me
It engulfed all in it's way
Yet I sat,
Still

I watched him struggle
It searched for him
It found and maimed him
Yet I sat,
Still

I watched the horrified faces
And I smiled
As it came for and tortured them
Yet I sat,
Still

Done for

I wait
and I wait

and I wait
but still, no reversal

We may have won back your ghost
from the old enemy
but that's another species
another planet

so whilst I sit at home
waiting for you to turn
I listen
on my wireless radio
to you
going dow the same old route
the same old path
the same old places
the same old disappointment

Dedicated to Leeds, and, stanza 3 is for the Ashes, hoves.

NO BALL GAMES IN THE COMMON ROOM, HOVES

A sphere saves our boredom
as we toss it around the common room,
hand, to hand, to hand
misplaced upon the floor,
bounced from the ceiling.

And then we realise,
all at once, but not together,
this is what we were put here to do.

Between the dour and the bored
is a day
