Did anyone watch it last night? Haven't seen this film in ages. It was pretty awsome.

I also watched it and it's confirmed my supicions that the film is one of the all-time greats, that the beginning was spectacular and that I need to buy the DVD.

The atmospherics built up simply with the music and Shark's eye views is unrivalled by any modern films that claim to "scare the crap out of you", compared to Jaws they look like Bearded ladies in Tutus.

One of Jaws' only weaknesses is the fact they decided to show the Shark fully out of the water, which made it look rubberized and slightly weak. More credit should go to Jaws in that even creating a Shark out of water scene rivalled the modern CGI trickery used to create the Anaconda in the film of the same name.

A bloody fantastic film, one up there with "The Deer Hunter" in the 'watch before you die' league.

Yeah, I still think the shark looks incredible compared to today's standard.

That's because the Shark we saw out of the water was the animatronic of yesteryear, rather than the CGI generated one we'd expect to see nowadays.

The Shark in the water was a real shark though, they had a tam-er Great White that they'd managed to shoot the sequences with (all of the swimming ones, not the cage biting scene)

Wow, ITV were actually useful - I almost spent money on the new 30th anniversary Jaws DVD but seeing as it was on telly last night, I didn't bother! Who'd have thunk it?

The news and advert breaks didn't make for the slickest of viewing, but there's nothing worse than corking your bowels for two and a half hours ... so they were acceptable.

Not scary, but far tenser and more emotionally driving than the "cack yourself silly" films of today.
