I wanted to know whether you think I have a shot at Oxford:

GCSEs

2 A*
7 A
2 B

A Levels:

Assuming I get say, ABB or better

In the general Economics, Business management, mathematical areas.

(Also, for this exercise, we can assume I pass the interview too.)
:)

Thanks.

I think it was his personal statement more then anything which got him turned down. He's an odd character, not many people liked him at college, he was called "Random Tim" by everyone because he just randomly appeared and laughed at your jokes.

He wanted to do something with Maths anyway.

He's going to Sheffield now I think.

What was he applying to?

"not achieving an interview"

Nearly everyone that applies gets an interview, I think.

By all means, apply to them, but be prepared to get turned down.

Someone I know from college got 12 A*s at GCSE level and 4 A's at A level but he still got turned away from Oxford, not even achieving an interview.

Personal Statement + Work Experience + Grades will probably get you somewhere.

And there is always that "rich family" conspiracy that goes on, but meh, you have 6 choices, you may as well go for it.

You should have used all 6.

No, they think they are, but they're not (not that I can compare).

The problem with Edinburgh is that they only take Foregin people and Public schooled people, they don't give state school "scum" like me a look in edgewise.

I enver wanted to go to Edinburgh anyway, I only applied as I wanted to get the most out of my £15.

I should have at least applied to Dundee as well, but I didn't, for some reason.

Yes.
But Edinburgh's "supposed" to be a better Uni.

Yeah, they can't see where they applied, but where they got offers from.

I think

They used to be able to see where else you've applied, not anymore. Mainly because people who'd applied to Oxbridge weren't getting any offers from anywhere else, because they knew they'd be second best and would rather give the places to people who actually wanted to come.

Did they reject you after you got your unconditionals?

Apparently universities can see where you've had offers from, and don't like wasting their own offers if you've been accepted to a better uni.

Maybe that's why?
