Small edits permitted

I was hoping for pictures other than landscapes, imagination regarding the subject title would have gone a huge distance. Sorry Tim, a picture of the family dawg, as cute as it is, just didn’t do it for me. :D Anyhoo: -.

(Please note, I’m looking for a mood or feeling here. Quality is secondary.)

Love the contrast between the mountains and sky.

Marvellous shot, but the boat really takes me out of the picture. This is a case where I’d argue that a slight photoshop edit would really improve the overall effect.

I love this. It’s pretty empty, but the off centre few people in the boat really make it. The cityscape on the horizon screams industry and activity, and these people are slap bang in the middle of nowhere, on a calm sea. It suggested the topic title like no other entry IMHO.

Your other entry is very, very nice, but I really don’t like a subject being centred in the middle of the shot. Weren’t you taught anything about composition dammit! ;D

Considerations

Crossbob – http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/3429/cloudsfromaeroplanewindow9sl.jpg I’m a sucker for looking out of plane windows, shame the camera is of pretty low quality.

Beautiful. Although are you sure you took that yourself?
J-42 http://img99.imageshack.us/my.php?image=serenity0117ce.jpg I love the focus.

All were of high standard, all were interesting.

I hand over to you FFF.

ClazOn.

Not that it matters.

And I assume I can be honored that you are doubting whether I took that.
:D

I went to Canada over the summer (as some on here know) for hiking and stuff, so I have loads of picturesque shots like that.

But thanks, I guess...

A Sony DSC-P10 Cyber-shot (5.0 megapixels)

I haven't seen a "macro mode" yet, but the "Beep" then "Click" rhing does aplly to the camera however, this doesn't bring up a cross or change the focus.

Yeah. So your Canon basically has an Autofocus mode, but that was a very 'onamatapeiac' way of describing the way it functions ;o)

Macro Mode is supposed to take objects that are relatively close to the foreground but the best technique is to use it together with the auto-focus Tim was describing, otherwise the camera will be squarely focused on the middle ground.

I find my Camera's good for most things, the only disappointment being that it cannot record sound into videos. I have an Olympus Camedia c-350 zoom which I picked up for a not-so-cool £120 (I'm into cameras and needed a holiday one)

It's worth splashing out on a Digi. cam with features such as Autofocus, Macro Mode and, my personal favourite, the Optical and Digital zooms. Combining them both is the easiest way to bring things closer and is something I miss with my Nikon conventional camera.

Just thought you'd like to know that :)

For really close up you need a camera with a "macro mode". What camera have you got?

My Canon Ixus i is cool: if you half-press the button it focuses (*beep*) and puts a square on the display showing what it's focussed on - press the rest of the way and it takes the shot (*click*).
