I was lucky enough to see this at the cinema, and was absolutely blown away.
It's in German, and it does mean reading subtitles, but I really don't think it would work if dubbed or spoken in English.
A superb film, and definitely one for your collection.
Mine's on order, should be through soon.
Pure Brilliance :)
The only thing was that the actor playing Hitler was a little chubby, although he got the mannerisms right
A good drama actually, emotionally driven and quite gripping
Did you ever see that "Hitler" programme on TV a while ago?
I thought that was pretty good.
> Whats it about roughly?
The downfall of Nazi Germany (and Hitler in particular) at the end of the 2nd World War.
It was only shown in the UK on limited release, and my local UCI cinema ran it for just 2 weeks.
Bruno Ganz plays Hitler and is utterly superb. When he was venting his spleen in a typical Hitler rant, you actually felt as if you were there on the receiving end. It really made you squirm and sink into your seat, wanting the ground to open up.
It's not a typical war film, though - it's set almost entirely inside Hitler's bunker, so don't go thinking you're going to see lots of battles, tanks, dogfights and the like.
Even so, it's still brilliant stuff.
I can't be bothered checking
Im not bothered about subtitles anymore. I sometimes watch films with subtitles on even if the sound is in English anyways because it helps you to understand the story better sometimes.
I understood Constantine a lot better after i watched it with subtitles because sometimes they whisper their words and they are a bit hard to understand.
