Any useful sites that have good, non-biased laptop reviews? I worrying about googling that I'll just get bias, so... any ideas?

I don't think it's going to be used for gaming, it just needs to be quite reliable, and a fairly large capacity HD (60gb+)

What model did you go for?

Well it depends what you want. If you're after a gaming laptop then I'd stay well away from Dell and IBM, because they don't have any models with a decent graphics card.

Pick up some Laptop or PC magazines and you'll see that usually Acer wins out in comparisons, because of value for money, good quality components, good build quality, long battery life, aesthetics and reliability.

I've been looking around for a laptop, just like you are, and Acer is who I am choosing, after quite a bit of research.

True, but no one on here will have tried every new laptop in a certain price range, and if asked which one was the most reliable would probably choose the one they went for.

Why an Acer?

What does it have over, say, IBMs or Dells? Just cheaper?

"bias" aka experience. Use google, there are loads of PC review sites out there. My advice is to get an Acer.
