(I don't really want to ask for your opinions, as I'm sure there will be bias)
Bit pricey but it should last for ages.
Might have a website too.

Yeah, I think it was £468 (close enough).
It's not a bad machine at all.

Is that the one for £469 or something?

My Dad purchased an Acer laptop the other day, from Tescos, surprisingly (don't laugh).
Verdict? Superb. My Dad isn't exactly a gamer or regular computer user, so the specification suits what he needs.
Anyway, here's a nice, clean, trustworthy site: http://www.pcmag.com/category2/0,1874,9,00.asp

That's what you want?
is that a good price?
If you're not after gaming then an IBM would probably be quite useful, although it'll be more expensive than the Acer equivalent. The biggest problem, really, is that almost every laptop manufacturer that you've heard of only puts 1GB of RAM into it's most high specced desktop replacements, with Pentium 4s and the like, which is utterly useless.
Most IBM or Dell or Toshiba or HP laptops come with 512MB max, and if you want to upgrade (only Dell actually let you), it costs about £300. (to upgrade to 2GB RAM in a Dell laptop costs near £1000!). Acer are the same but their prices are slightly lower, so the extra £200 for 1GB RAM isn't so bad.
Anyway, whatever you do, make sure you get a Pentium M. Oh, and as far as HD capacity, 40GB is minimum and it's about 120GB maximum. Most laptops should have 60, so don't worry. You should be looking to pay around £800-£1000 for what I'm guessing you want.
