Got myself a nice new sparkling Freeview box and the darn thing has gone and got stuck on standby.

As tempting as these cheap "£30" freeview boxes are I really recommend you go for a better known brand you can trust. Mine was a mere £35 from Tesco and I've managed 2 episodes of scrubs, a bit of sky sports news and "The Smoking Room" before the damn thing stopped on me.

Seriously, it may seem like little difference between the £30 and £60 model but believe you me quality is everything when it comes to digital TV.

Thats what you get for being so tight fisted and not paying for real digital TV.

My girlfriend's freeview is terrible. Signal is really poor, but then again so are the signals for everyones mobiles in the house so it didn't really come as a surpise. A bit of a shame though as we've have to just resort to watching terrestrial again.

If it's anything like the older sky boxes then you need to uplug it for 30 seconds and then turn it back on to reset it.

If the button is stuck then obviously see if a small shake will dislodge it, otherwise upplug it and try to coax the button out with something handy and failing that open up the machine with a screwdriver and re-seal it making sure the button's not stuck.

Yep, mine came with the weakest signal booster money can buy, an awful channel selection, a remote that didn't work properly and it turns itself off sometimes without warning.

The cheapy ones are most definitely to be avoided.
