What would you most like to see?
I think it would be great if a company made a game with 16bit graphics but make it enormous.

SSX lasted a month of constant pounding - and it's still going!

I would like to see a 2D Sonic game, back to its Mega Drive roots. Even better, put it on a DVD! THAT WOULD TAKE MONTHS!!!!!!

Another alternative is using a zip utility to zip the whole game. But the loading times would be stupid.

A bigger game or better graphics?

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind when I say bigger game.

Graphics are merely there to please the eye, the game is there to please the brain.

Of course graphics will improve, no matter what for at least the next decade, but games aren't going to get that much bigger.

If games were to get much bigger then people would take longer to complete them, and wouldn't buy so many games, so making games much bigger could damage the market.

So what I'd like to see I won't get, but hey, that's a good thing!

Better graphics or a bigger game... hmmmmm

NEITHER! Maybe if developers put more efort into originality and gameplay things would be better. For example, my favourite game of all time is NiGHTS on the Saturn which took a day to complete. But it was so original and refreshing that i still wanna buy an old copy when I get the money. Another example is MGS... hardly a big game... hardly outstanding graphics... but the gameplay was something new, and that's what sold.

Obviously, if a company were to come up with a concept that was this original I doubt that it would ever be as short as the games I have mentioned... gamers like to play games for about 40 hours each, which seems a sensible time. But far better than just more and more levels would be more modes/options/bonuses. For example, Zelda 64 could be done in under a week if you went straight through the game. But then you can collect masks, go fishing, etc, etc. Get the idea?

I have just completed Sectret of Man for the 4th time!

Heh, mind you it's getting pretty boring, the music is good, but even the best of games can get boring if over played!

I have a feeling this 'massive' game you're on about would be the same!

What do you mean by greatest hits. Pong , Parrapa the Rappa, the one were you play as a beach ball (that was so addictive by the way), tomb raider and tekken 1. I don't think 5 metal gear solids or Gran turismos (or games ov equal sizes) would fit on a single PS2 disc. Oh well who knows. If they could then make a comeback.

They already did that with Midway classics volumes 1 & 2. They were met with great enthusiasm as magazines awarded the games around the 30% mark. They probably didn't sell too well either which is why companies aren't going to ever make a very, very, very large 16-bit game.
