I've been downloading a video (100% legal bla bla bla) and it's got to 99.9% and there's no seeders for it and it keeps timing out. Is there any way I can still watch this movie even though it isn't fully complete? I've tried playing it in media player but as usual it's fussy.

Any help would be awesome taaaa.

Download AVI preview and try and find the video file.
Should play it aslong as you have the right codecs installed.

50 - 60k?

What 'net speed you on?

From what I've heard on torrent forums, is that you've downloaded 99.9% of the film or whaever it is you're getting, but there's no one online seeding that has that tiny bit of the film that you need. Just wait it out and hopefully someone will start seeding with that bit.
That's why it's always nice to seed for as long as you can, so you don't get things like this happnening to you or othre people.

Okie dokes, just thought it was a bit weird, saying you're getting a "good" speed at 50-60kbps. :P

Better than 5kbp/s on dial up though.

50kbp/s isnt too bad either.

Bloody BT...

Not quite as bad as the struggle I had to get on Broadband in the first place last year, but now they're upgrading the whole country except for me.

Thing is, the techie that came round to do the speed test and fit it also told me I was ok to have 1mb connection, but I chose 512k because I couldn't afford more. Now they're upgrading for free I've been told my line won't accept a faster speed than 512k. Another case of 'computer says no...' I expect...

Paradox if you havent solved your problem, I use a program called VLC Media Player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (no junk or ads with this player, quite like Windows Media Classic Playter). It'll play a 99.9% file no problem, and pretty much any percentage, which is good if you want to a}check if the file is the one you're after b) make sure it's a language you know and c) check the video and audio quality. One of the reasons why I use VLC Media Player is because it can play .bin files which I couldnt get other players, WMPlayer, DivX Player, BS player etc to play. .bin files are the ones they put on VCDs I think. You come across them sometimes.

If you are downloading Lost, there is a torrent somewhere with all episodes so dont waste time tracking and downloading them all individually. You should be using a program that can allow you to choose what files/episodes you want to download. If you are downloading a torrent with all the episodes on, do not download 'Lost - S1 - Lost; The Journey.avi' it's a waste of 350MB it's your typical crappy American catch up show that show bits of all the episodes upto umm I think it was episode 19, with no new footage.

VLC is really good. it's like a battering ram of a media player, it just does it and doesn't squinny about minor problems.
highly recommended.

Torrents that get to 99.9% are normally set up by the MPAA to catch naughty people, don't go for releases the day that they come out, also check forums of the torrent sites to check to see if any MPAA IPs have shown up or if everyone is having the same problem.

use peer guardian or safe peer as well.
