Is some download program thinger which shows how much you are and have downloaded so I can keep track of this accursed monthly download limit.

You need to get youself a 'tech-monkey' to write you one. Pop along to your nearest University and grab someone geeky-looking as they leave the computer lab. The either threaten them, or offer them a reward to write you such a thing.

Yeah, same with plusnet the people who used more than 150gb a month were put on the same contended pipe. Quite how you can manage 150gb is not my place to say.

Why can I never work torrents?

Even on one with no cap they usually have a limit they dont want you to cross. For example mine is apparently 43GB, which I didn't know about until they wrote us a letter saying we'd used more than 43GB for 3 months on a trot. Don't ask me how.
